Lehigh finishes third in 2010-11 Presidents' Cup standings

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League released the final 2010-11 Presidents’ Cup Standings on Wednesday and Lehigh finished with 101 total points, which places the Mountain Hawks in third place overall, which matches their finish from last year. The Lehigh men (49.74 points) and women (51.25 points) both finished fourth in their respective standings. Bucknell once again won the Presidents’ Cup with 118.5 points, while Navy was the runner-up with 111.75 points. The Mountain Hawks placed third and were followed by Army, Colgate, American, Lafayette and Holy Cross.
On the men’s side, Bucknell totaled 56.75 points throughout the academic year to claim first place. Navy and Army took second and third respectively, followed by Lehigh who checked in with 49.75 points. Colgate, Lafayette, American and Holy Cross comprised the bottom half o
n the men’s side. During the spring, the Mountain Hawks’ men’s lacrosse team qualified for the Patriot League Tournament for the first time since 2006 while the tennis team advanced to the finals of the league tournament for the first time ever.
In the women’s standings, Bucknell registered 61.75 points to finish on top and was followed by Colgate with 58 points then Navy with 56. Lehigh checked in at number four with 51.25 points, while Army, American, Holy Cross and Lafayette round out the standings. Lehigh’s softball team won its 11th Patriot League Tournament title, while the women’s lacrosse team tied for the league’s regular season championship and made its fifth straight tournament appearance.
Presidents’ Cup points are based on a team’s performance in the regular season and postseason. Lehigh has yet to capture the Presidents’ Cup, but the Mountain Hawks have finished second twice.
