Ice Hockey Clinches Playoff Berth!

Posted: 02/05/2013
The victory over PSU Berks solidified a playoff spot for Lehigh Ice Hockey. This is the fourth time these teams have met this season and Lehigh came away with victories in all of their match-ups. Lehigh was looking for a victory to seal their playoff hopes for the post season as Lehigh just came off their outstanding win at Drexel and a three game weekend. With two games left, one home and one away, before the playoffs Lehigh looks to finish out the season strong and remain hot entering the playoffs. The home game against Cortland University on Friday February 8th 2013 will be Senior Night to recognize all the senior’s parents and efforts throughout the years at Lehigh University.

Lehigh enters the post season looking for retribution after getting knocked out in the first round last year against Lebanon Valley College and finishing 10-15 for the season. Coach stated after finding out about the playoff spot" We’re a dangerous team; none is going to want to play us. If we stay focused we can beat anyone." The playoff match will take place on February 15th 2013 @ 2pm at the Ice Line Rink in West Chester with the opponent TBA.

In coach's first year Tom has brought Lehigh Ice Hockey back to a winning record and post season berth. With the all-around team effort three players have stood out as nationally ranked point leaders in the Men’s Division I American Collegiate Hockey Association. Tyler Lewis and Tyler Edwards "TnT" both rank in the top 20 for points in the season and Kevin Melone ranks in the top 100. (Lewis ranks second with 69pts, Edwards ranks eighteenth with 48pts, Melone ranks sixty-fifth with 37pts). With all the remaining games please come out and show your support!
