Lehigh ready for NCAA showdown at No. 6 Mississippi
The Lehigh men’s tennis team will play its first ever NCAA Tournament match Friday when the Mountain Hawks meet No. 6 Mississippi at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center in Oxford, Miss. The time of the match has been moved to 3 p.m. (CT), a change from when the pairings were announced on April 30.

Lehigh rowing returns to action this weekend at Dad Vail Regatta
Following a week off, the Lehigh rowing team returns to action at one of the nation’s most prestigious regattas as the Mountain Hawks head to Philadelphia to compete in the Dad Vail Regatta. The two-day event runs Friday and Saturday. Lehigh is coming off an impressive showing against Lafayette to capture the River Cup once again.

Krentz repeats as men's tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year
As he prepares to lead Lehigh into its first NCAA Tournament appearance, senior co-captain Andrew Krentz was tabbed as the Patriot League’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men’s tennis for the second straight year, it was announced Wednesday. Krentz was also named to the Academic All-Patriot League for the third straight year. He is joined on the Academic All-League team by sophomore Mitchell Petersen.

Farrell, Sloand named to Academic All-Patriot League team
Two members of the Lehigh women’s tennis team were named to the Academic All-Patriot League team announced Wednesday. Junior Jill Sloand and sophomore Abby Farrell both boast cumulative grade point averages above 3.90 and both student-athletes have made regular appearances on the Dean’s List and Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

Mountain Hawks to host Patriot League Tournament beginning Thursday
The Lehigh softball team seeks its third straight Patriot League tournament title and eighth in the last ten years as the Mountain Hawks host the 2013 Patriot League tournament at Kaufman Field beginning Thursday. The Mountain Hawks went 21-2 in April improving their overall record to 35-14-1, while Lehigh won its second straight Patriot League regular season title with a 17-3 league mark.

Bilimoria, Farrell represent Lehigh on All-League teams
Junior Jenai Bilimoria and sophomore Abby Farrell led the Lehigh women’s tennis team on the court in 2013 and on Wednesday they were named to the All-Patriot League teams. Bilimoria earned her second career All-League honor as she appears on the first team for the first time, while Farrell was named to the second team. The All-Patriot League teams are voted on by the league’s head coaches.

Lehigh places three on All-League teams, Hendrix named Coach of the Year
Three members of the Patriot League Champion Lehigh men’s tennis team were named to All-Patriot League teams Wednesday. Sophomore Ben Gilman was named to the first team for the second time in his career, while junior Mark Goldberg and Mitchell Petersen earned spots on the second team. First year head coach Wouter Hendrix was also named Coach of the Year.

Compitello helps mastermind Lehigh attack
The Lehigh offense hit a lull with nonleague losses to Penn and UMass by identical 6-4 finals. Head coach Kevin Cassese decided to implement a new system, which has worked wonders; the Mountain Hawks have scored double-figure goals in six straight games and are Patriot League Champions and NCAA Tournament bound for a second straight season.

Four Mountain Hawks garner Second-Team All-Patriot League honors
Following the 2013 season, junior Joe Ablen, sophomore John Elson, sophomore Justin Pacchioli and senior Casey Turner were selected to the All-Patriot League Second Team it was announced Tuesday. Abeln was an outfielder on last year’s second team, but the other three Lehigh players earned a spot on the prestigious squad for the first time in their careers.

Roessel named softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Lehigh senior centerfielder Rosie Roessel has been named Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for softball, it was announced Tuesday. The award marks the fifth straight year and the ninth time overall a Lehigh softball player has won the award. Roessel was also named to the Academic All-Patriot League team for the third straight year, where she is joined by sophomore Emily Bausher.

Lehigh sweeps major awards; seven named All-Patriot League
After capturing its second straight regular season championship and 18th overall, the Lehigh softball team finds itself well represented as the Patriot League announced its All-League teams and major award winners Tuesday. Freshman Morgan Decker was named the league’s Player and Rookie of the Year, while senior Becca Bliss was named Pitcher of the Year. Head coach Fran Troyan was named Coach of the Year for the second straight year. In all, seven Mountain Hawks were named All-Patriot League.

Lehigh heading to Tempe, Ariz. for first NCAA Regional appearance
The Lehigh men’s golf team won its first Patriot League Championship since 1997 back on April 28. Monday night, the Mountain Hawks learned that they will head to Tempe, Arizona for their first NCAA Regional appearance as Lehigh was announced as one of 14 teams that will compete on the ASU Karsten Golf Course May 16-18.

Three named Academic All-League; Schapira named Scholar-Athlete
Three members of the Patriot League champion Lehigh women’s golf team were honored for their academic work Monday as the league announced its academic award winners in women’s golf. Seniors Ginette Schapira and Chelsea Michalek, along with sophomore Kelly Moylan were named to the Academic All-Patriot League team, while Schapira was voted Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Lehigh draws North Carolina in NCAA Tournament Saturday
Following its second straight Patriot League Championship, the Lehigh men’s lacrosse team learned Sunday night that it will head to #5 seed North Carolina for its NCAA First Round game Saturday. Faceoff is set for 12 p.m. on ESPN2.The Mountain Hawks will return to North Carolina where it defeated the Tar Heels last season. UNC and Lehigh enter the NCAA Tournament with the nation’s two longest active winning streaks at nine and seven games, respectively.

Lehigh’s women finish third, men fourth in PL Championships
The Lehigh women’s and men’s track and field teams finished in third and fourth place at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships for the third consecutive season Saturday at the Goodman Campus. The women’s squad racked up 119.25 points, while the men earned 85 points.

After day one of the Patriot League Championships and six scored events, the Lehigh women’s and men’s track and field team stand in second and fourth place with 43 and 12 points respectively. Barket and Spadola named to NFF Hampshire Honor Society
Lehigh seniors Zach Barket and Ryan Spadola have been named to the 2013 National Football Foundation (NFF) and College Hall of Fame Hampshire Honor Society, it was announced on Thursday. Both Mountain Hawks are two-time Capital One Academic All-District selections and key contributors to Lehigh’s back-to-back Patriot League championship teams in 2010 and 2011.

Mountain Hawks utilizing off week as Selection Show nears
Despite two weeks between the Patriot League and NCAA Tournaments, the Lehigh men’s lacrosse team is hard at work in various areas to ensure success - on and off the field. The players have hit the books for final exams, while sprinkling in some time to get stronger in the weight room and stay sharp on the field.
