Fourteen from women’s lacrosse named to Academic Honor Roll
The Lehigh women’s lacrosse program landed 14 players on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the league on Wednesday. Leading the way was senior Anna Patterson, who posted a perfect 4.0 grade point average majoring in Sociology/Social Psychology. She heads eight Mountain Hawks with semester GPAs of 3.8 or higher. Not far behind was sophomore Emily Solenberger with a 3.98 in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Two Mountain Hawks named to CFPA watch lists
Two Lehigh football players were recently named to the offensive and defensive positional watch lists by College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) heading into the 2013 season. Junior tight end Tyler Coyle was selected on the offensive side of the ball, while senior linebacker Nigel Muhammad represents the defense.

Mountain Hawks place six on Academic Honor Roll
Coming off its first Patriot League title in school history, the Lehigh men’s tennis team placed six student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, which was announced Tuesday. Senior captain Andrew Krentz was named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men’s tennis for the second straight year last month.

Snyder and Noone picked up by Major League Lacrosse teams
Former Lehigh standouts Ryan Snyder and Mike Noone were recently picked up by Major League Lacrosse teams, Snyder joining the first-place Denver Outlaws and Noone heading to the Ohio Machine. Snyder has been added to the active roster and will back up Anthony Kelly at the faceoff X while Noone is on Ohio’s practice squad, but could join the active roster at a moment’s notice.

Lehigh lands five on women's tennis Academic Honor Roll
The Lehigh women’s tennis team was well represented, with five of the eight players on the Mountain Hawks’ roster earning a spot on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, which was announced Tuesday. Sophomore Jill Sloand was one of four Patriot League women’s tennis student-athletes to achieve a perfect 4.0 grade point average in the spring semester.

Eight incomers set to join Lehigh field hockey program
Lehigh head coach Stacey Blue announced on Monday the eight incoming freshmen to the field hockey program. Many of the talented newcomers are in-state products. Six of the eight are from the state of Pennsylvania, including two from nearby powerhouse Emmaus in the Lehigh Valley. The eight freshmen will look to help build the program this coming fall.

McBride named PCL Player of the Month for May
Former Lehigh baseball standout Matt McBride was named Pacific Coast League Player of the Month earlier this week after leading all of Minor League Baseball with 31 RBI in May. The Bethlehem native also led the PCL in slugging percentage (.811) and OPS (1.195) last month. McBride is enjoying a tremendous season for AAA Colorado Springs, hitting .323 with 13 home runs and 38 RBI.

Steelhawks finish regular season on the road
The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks (6-5) will be making their second trip to Georgia this month when they travel to Albany to take on the defending PIFL champion Panthers (6-4) for the second time this season. The last time the two teams met the Steelhawks were the victors in a close game that ended with a score of 49-47. The Steelhawks and Panthers will play this Saturday night with a 7:30 pm EST kickoff.

McCollum continues preparations for NBA Draft
Former Lehigh standout C.J. McCollum continues hard at work in preparation for the 2013 NBA Draft set for Thursday, June 27 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. McCollum has worked out in Phoenix, Sacramento and Utah over the past week as he continues to showcase his talents to NBA executives. He was also featured on NBA.com in a three-minute video piece as NBA TV tagged along for his graduation last month.

After banner season, Mountain Hawks announce team awards
The Lehigh men’s golf team is coming off a historic 2012-13 season where the Mountain Hawks qualified for their first NCAA Regional after winning their first Patriot League Championship since 1997. The Mountain Hawks also won three tournaments in the 2012-13 school year, after previously not winning a tournament since 2009.

Lehigh women's golf hands out postseason team awards
After winning the inaugural Patriot League women’s golf championship in April, the Lehigh women’s golf team honored its two senior captains with team awards following the conclusion of the 2013 spring season. Senior Chelsea Michalek was named Outstanding Athlete and Scholar-Athlete while classmate Ginette Schapira took home the Coaches Award.

Patriot League champs hand out postseason team awards
Prior to making its first-ever NCAA tournament appearance, the Lehigh men’s tennis team handed out its program awards last month at its year-end banquet. The Mountain Hawks won their first ever Patriot League championship, and played in the NCAA tournament in Oxford, Miss. Lehigh’s 18-6 mark also set a school record for wins in a season.

Nine Lehigh teams garner APR Public Recognition Awards
Nine Lehigh athletic teams were honored with Academic Progress Rate Public Recognition Awards, as announced by the NCAA on Wednesday. Awards are given each year to teams scoring in the top 10 percent in their respective sport with their Academic Progress Rate (APR). The teams that were recognized include: men’s basketball, softball, women’s cross country, women’s golf, women’s lacrosse, women’s rowing, women’s swimming and diving, women’s tennis and volleyball.

Stabler to host 13 High School Graduations

Lehigh head women’s soccer coach Eric Lambinus announced the team’s 2013 schedule on Tuesday, which includes a 17-game schedule including a nonleague trip to California and Patriot League showdowns against new members Boston University and Loyola. The Lehigh softball team finished another successful season in 2013. The Mountain Hawks came up one win short of their third consecutive Patriot League Championship and finished the season with at least 30 wins for the 13th straight year. Volleyball concludes its cultural and educational experience in China
After spending time in three cities in as many weeks and taking two flights halfway across the globe, the Lehigh volleyball team completed its cultural and educational experience in China. The Mountain Hawks went up against some of the toughest competition in the nation and toured historical sites in Beijing, Nanjing and Shanghai from May 9-30.

Beauchamp selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team
Lehigh junior thrower Benjamin Beauchamp was named to the 2012-13 CoSIDA Academic All-District II Team for his outstanding athletic and academic achievements, it was announced Thursday. Beauchamp competed in four different events at the Patriot League Championships over the course of the indoor and outdoor seasons before ending the spring with a 47.78-meter throw in the discus at the IC4A Championships.

Two Lehigh rowers earn Patriot League postseason honors
Lehigh sophomore Corey Johnson has been named a First Team All-Patriot League honoree while both Johnson and junior Leah Paulson earned a spot on the Academic All-Patriot League Team, as recently announced. Johnson rowed in the seven seat for the Varsity Eight this spring, helping lead the boat to success in only her second collegiate season.

Mountain Hawks lead South to 16-10 win in North-South Game
Lehigh men's lacrosse graduating seniors David DiMaria, Dante Fantoni, Ryan Snyder and Mike Noone all played key roles in leading the South to a 16-10 win in last Friday's 72nd annual USILA/LaxWorld Division I-II Senior North-South Game. The four representatives marked the most from any school in the nation. DiMaria posted a game-high four points, Fantoni scored a goal, Snyder won 14 faceoffs and Noone had at least one groundball and caused turnover to lead the defense.

Reed announces addition of three student-athletes
Lehigh head men’s basketball coach Brett Reed announced the addition of three student-athletes on Wednesday, who will all enter the program in the fall. Miles Simelton and Cole Renninger enter following stellar high school careers while John Ross Glover transfers to the Brown and White after his freshman campaign at Division I Lipscomb University.

Mountain Hawks end season setting school record at NCAA regional
The Lehigh men’s track and field team’s season concluded Saturday at North Carolina A&T’s Irwin Belk Track after sophomore Adeolu Adesida broke the school record in the high jump. His 2.14-meter leap tied for 11th place, but earlier misses put him at no. 22 in the field of 48 competitors. Junior Pat Ciez finished tied for 22nd place with a mark of 2.00 meters and put him at no. 46 in the event.

Lemon finishes 17th, Ataman ends in 30th at NCAA East Regional
Two athletes from the Lehigh women’s track and field team ended their outdoor seasons with successful performances at the NCAA East Regional on Friday. Competing in the second flight in the preliminaries of the hammer throw, senior E’lana Lemon finished 17th and junior Jimil Ataman placed 30th out of the 48 athletes in the event.

Lehigh football season tickets are now on sale for the general public as of Friday, May 24. Earlier this month, season ticket renewal forms were sent out to those who previously held tickets, and now all Lehigh football fans have the opportunity to purchase a package that includes tickets to all five regular season home games including the 149th meeting between Lehigh and archrival Lafayette.

Troyan announces women’s basketball 2017 recruiting class
Lehigh women’s basketball coach Sue Troyan announced the addition of four athletes that will comprise the team’s Class of 2017. Lehigh to host Women's National Tournament this weekend
The U.S. Lacrosse National Tournament heads to Bethlehem this weekend, which includes a showdown between Team USA and Team Canada on Saturday. The tournament began in 1933 to showcase the best post-collegiate and club women’s lacrosse players and has grown into one of the largest women’s lacrosse events in the nation.

Hess and Snyder named USILA Scholar All-Americans
Lehigh seniors Brian Hess and Ryan Snyder have been named USILA Scholar All-Americans, as announced on Tuesday. The two honorees were the most in the Patriot League, joining Army’s Brendan Buckley, Bucknell’s Mike Huffner and Colgate’s Peter Baum as five of the more than 90 individuals across Division I, II and III recognized.

Mountain Hawks once again garner NWCA academic honors
In addition to another successful season on the mats, the Lehigh wrestling program was recognized for its work in the classroom as the National Wrestling Coaches Association announced its All-Academic Individuals and top 30 teams late Monday. The Mountain Hawks tied for sixth in the country with a 3.23 team GPA, while seniors Robert Hamlin and Shane Welsh and junior Joey Napoli were named to the individual All-Academic Team.

McCollum enjoys busy stretch with combine, graduation and draft lottery
Former Lehigh standout C.J. McCollum is in the midst of a busy stretch with the NBA Combine last weekend followed by graduation on Monday and the NBA Draft Lottery Tuesday. McCollum’s stock has continued to rise and is predicted by many as a top-10 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. He walked at graduation Monday and was one of nearly Lehigh 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students to receive their diplomas.

Lehigh retains men's Presidents' Cup; finishes third overall
Lehigh finished third in the final Patriot League Presidents’ Cup standings announced Monday afternoon. The Mountain Hawks won a school-record five Patriot League titles in the 2012-13 academic year, en route to their fourth straight top three Presidents’ Cup finish. Lehigh won the men’s trophy for the second straight year, while the Mountain Hawk women finished third.

Mountain Hawks conclude season at NCAA Tempe Regional
The Lehigh men’s golf team completed its spring season Saturday at the NCAA Tempe Regional on the ASU Karsten Golf Course. Junior Alex DiClemente led the Mountain Hawks on Saturday shooting even par 70, the lowest round of the tournament for Lehigh. The Mountain Hawks finished in 14th place in their first NCAA Regional appearance with a final score of 892 (301-295-296).

Lehigh makes six stroke improvement Friday at NCAA Tempe Regional
The Lehigh men’s golf team showed improvement on day two of the NCAA Tempe Regional. Four of the five Mountain Hawks bettered their first round scores as Lehigh shot 295 Friday at the ASU Karsten Golf Course. The Mountain Hawks were 15 over par on Friday and remain in 14th place at 36 over par 596 (301-295).

Santoro welcomes six newcomers to Lehigh wrestling program

Cassese set for role as ESPN guest analyst this weekend
Lehigh head men’s lacrosse coach Kevin Cassese will join Anish Shroff and analyst Mark Dixon in studio this weekend for the NCAA Quarterfinal games on Saturday and Sunday. It marks the second straight season that Cassese will serve as a guest analyst for the quarterfinals. In its first appearance in the NCAA Regional, the Lehigh men’s golf team held things together through the front nine, but the Mountain Hawks ran into collective trouble on the back nine to shoot 301 in round one Thursday at the ASU Karsten Golf Course. Battling 100-degree heat and desert conditions, the Mountain Hawks are 14th out of 14 teams in the field after 18 holes in the Regional.

Pair of Mountain Hawks selected to Academic All-Patriot League Team
Lehigh track and field junior Jimil Ataman and senior Lauren Pietrosh were named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, the league announced Monday. The two Mountain Hawks are among a group of 10 athletes that hold a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.45. A History major, Ataman has held a 3.55 cumulative GPA while Pietrosh has maintained a 3.90 cumulative GPA in marketing during her career.

Lehigh’s women’s and men’s track and field teams followed up the Patriot League Outdoor Championships by sending 19 athletes to compete at the ECAC and IC4A Championships in Princeton, N.J. Women’s Freshmen Eight takes bronze to highlight Dad Vail Regatta
The Lehigh rowing team wrapped up a highly successful Dad Vail Regatta on Saturday with two freshmen crews making the finals including a third-place, bronze medal finish by the Women’s Freshmen Eight. In total, six of the Mountain Hawks’ crews competed in the semifinals on Saturday. Lehigh was the only school to have the Women’s Freshmen Four and Freshmen Eight in the grand finals.

Big second quarter leads UNC past Lehigh in NCAA Tourney
The #10 nationally-ranked Lehigh men’s lacrosse team led 2-1 after a quarter, but #1 ranked and #5 seed UNC used a 5-0 surge in the second to take a lead that it wouldn’t relinquish as the Mountain Hawks fell 16-7 on Saturday afternoon in the NCAA Tournament. Poillon garners second straight Goalie of the Week honor
Lehigh men’s lacrosse sophomore Matt Poillon has been named the Patriot League Goalie of the Week for a second consecutive week and for the fourth time this season following the Mountain Hawks’ 11-7 win over Bucknell on Friday. Three of Lehigh's five qualifiers earn seeds as NCAA brackets announced
Seeds and brackets for the upcoming NCAA Championships were announced Wednesday evening with three Lehigh wrestlers earning top 12 seeds for the national tournament March 21-23 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. Coen adds Mark Surma to football coaching staff
Lehigh head coach Andy Coen has announced the addition of Mark Surma to the Mountain Hawks’ coaching staff. Surma spent the last six seasons at Franklin & Marshall College, the first four as a student-athlete and the last two as an assistant coach. Reed named a finalist for Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award
Lehigh head men’s basketball coach Brett Reed is one of only 20 finalists in the nation for the Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award, as announced by CollegeInsider.com on Tuesday. The award was established in 2008 to honor those who not only achieve success on the basketball court, but who also display moral integrity off it as well. This season, Reed has become Lehigh’s all-time winningest coach and the fastest coach in Patriot League history to 100 career victories.

Field hockey earns several NFHCA academic honors
The Lehigh field hockey team earned a number of academic honors from the NFHCA last week. The Mountain Hawks garnered an academic team award for a collective GPA over 3.0 while nine individuals were named to the 2012 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. In addition, freshman Katherine Koomar was among the Division I Scholars of Distinction for a GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year.

The Lehigh men’s tennis team won its seventh straight match, completing a perfect 7-0 home stand with a 6-1 win over Temple Sunday at the Lewis Tennis Center. For the third time in as many days a Lehigh softball game was cut short, but on Sunday the Mountain Hawks used a four-run third inning to defeat Iona 6-2 in a game that was called in the top of the sixth inning. The game was called due to weather with the Mountain Hawks batting with runners on second and third in the sixth inning.

Mountain Hawks split on second day of Towson Invitational
Day two of the Towson Invitational saw the Lehigh softball team split a pair of games against Iona and Columbia at the TU Softball Complex. The Mountain Hawks let leads of 4-0 and 5-4 get away Saturday as Iona rallied for an 8-5 win in game one, but in game two Lehigh defeated Columbia for the second day in a row, 3-2 in a game that was shortened to four and a half innings due to darkness.

#16/17 Lehigh dominates VMI, 18-2
The #16/17 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team bounced back from a tough Colorado road trip by downing VMI on Saturday afternoon, 18-2. Four different Mountain Hawks recorded hat tricks, including senior David DiMaria who had three goals and four assists for his third seven-point game of the season. Senior Chris Rinaldi also scored his first-career goal in the first quarter and turned that into a hat trick of his own.

Mountain Hawks edge Army in regular season finale, 81-75
Up 16 in the second half, Army came back to pull even, but senior Holden Greiner scored 14 of his 24 points in the final 3:24 to lead the Lehigh men’s basketball team past Army, 81-75 on Saturday afternoon. Greiner was celebrating his Senior Day along with four other Mountain Hawks prior to their final regular season home game in the Brown & White. In its final regular season game, the Lehigh women’s basketball team fell to Army 62-52 Saturday at Christl Arena. In its first action in nearly two weeks the Lehigh women’s tennis team fell 6-1 to Towson Saturday inside the Lewis Tennis Center. Sprinters shine as Lehigh men open up at PL Championships
Lehigh’s core of sprinters led the way for the Mountain Hawk men’s team on day one of the Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championships. The Mountain Hawks 200 free relay squad won Lehigh’s first Patriot League title in five years, while five swimmers finished in the top 16 of the 50 yard freestyle Thursday at Bucknell’s Kinney Natatorium.

Freshmen pace Lehigh women on day one in Lewisburg
The Lehigh women’s swimming and diving team set three school records on day one of the Patriot League Championships Thursday at Bucknell’s Kinney Natatorium. Freshmen Courtney Patterson and Carolyn Koch accounted for the two individual records, while the Mountain Hawks’ 400 medley relay team closed the opening day with a school record performance.

Lehigh men’s basketball’s regular season finale vs. Army on Saturday, Mar. 2 will be picked up by CBS Sports Network, as announced by the Patriot League Thursday. The Lehigh baseball team is set to kick off its 2013 season this weekend with a three-game set in North Carolina at UNC-Wilmington. Kinek breaks rebounding records in 49-37 win at Bucknell
Freshman Kerry Kinek grabbed a school and Patriot League record 22 rebounds, and added a team-high 11 points, to lead the Lehigh women’s basketball team to a big 49-37 win at Bucknell on Wednesday evening at Sojka Pavilion. Fifteen of Kinek’s rebounds came in the first half as the Mountain Hawks held the Bison to just eight points in the first stanza. The win is Lehigh’s third straight to improve to 13-13 and 5-6 in Patriot League play.

A leader for Lehigh in and out of the pool
For senior swimming sensation Emily DiDonato, there was little question as to whether or not her college experience would include daily trips to the pool. Both of her older siblings swam in college and DiDonato had no second thoughts about following in their footsteps. In fact, she was first introduced to Lehigh when her siblings participated in a summer swimming program on campus.

The Lehigh wrestling team heads to Lewisburg, Pa. for its final dual meet of the regular season as the Mountain Hawks square off against the Bucknell Bison Friday night. The Mountain Hawks have won their last three duals to keep hope alive for a ten dual win season. Last weekend Lehigh went 2-0 in western Pennsylvania, downing No. 14 Pittsburgh 22-14 on Friday before routing Clarion 39-9 on Saturday.

Mountain Hawks split against Harvard and Brown on Senior Day
Three Lehigh wrestlers scored first period pins as the Mountain Hawks closed out their home schedule with a 27-16 win over Brown Sunday inside Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall. Lehigh had to settle for a split on the afternoon however, as Harvard captured the final two bouts to stun the Mountain Hawks 25-16 in Sunday’s opening dual on Senior Day at Grace Hall.

After dropping the doubles point, the Lehigh men’s tennis team rallied to win four of six singles matches to battle past Delaware 4-3 Sunday inside the Lewis Tennis Center. The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team opened a highly-anticipated 2013 season in a big way, downing visiting Saint Joseph’s 14-1 on a sunny Sunday afternoon at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Senior David DiMaria led the way with a career-high six goals while classmate Dante Fantoni tied a career high with three assists and five points. The margin of victory marked Lehigh’s largest since last year’s 13-0 shutout of Manhattan.

Sharp second half shooting propels Holy Cross over Lehigh, 72-66
Three Mountain Hawks reached double figures including a career-high 22 points from freshman Kerry Kinek, but 75 percent shooting from beyond the arc in the second half helped Holy Cross to a 72-66 victory over the Lehigh women’s basketball team Sunday afternoon. Lehigh dropped its fifth straight and the first to the Crusaders since March 9, 2008. The Mountain Hawks will look to bounce back against American Wednesday night.

Lehigh pulls out big 68-61 win at Holy Cross
Junior Mackey McKnight eclipsed 20 points for a second straight game to lead the Lehigh men’s basketball team to an impressive 68-61 win at Holy Cross on Saturday evening. The win marked the Mountain Hawks’ fifth straight on the road and ninth in their last 10 games as they won at Holy Cross for only the second time in their last 19 tries. Three others posted double-figure points as Lehigh improves to 17-5, 7-1 in Patriot League play.

Game at Holy Cross pushed to 7 p.m.
Lehigh men’s basketball’s game at Holy Cross has been moved from 4 to 7 p.m. due to a historic blizzard which dumped nearly 30 inches of snow on Worcester. The snow stopped and the sun peeked on Saturday morning as the storm came to an end. The Mountain Hawks are looking to continue their recent road success, winners of eight of their last nine away from home.

The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team opens a highly-anticipated season on Saturday when the Mountain Hawks welcome Saint Joseph’s. Opening faceoff is set for 1 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex. It will mark a homecoming of sorts for Saint Joe’s head coach Taylor Wray, who was an assistant at Lehigh for four seasons under Lehigh head coach Kevin Cassese. Dan Keating is on Wray’s staff as well after serving as volunteer assistant at Lehigh in 2010.

Coen Welcomes 20 in Lehigh Football Class of 2017
Lehigh head coach Andy Coen has announced the addition of 20 student-athletes who will join the Mountain Hawks’ football program as the Class of 2017. Members of the incoming class hail from ten different states and encompass almost every position group. This is also the first class in which scholar-athlete aid was made available following a decision by the Patriot League’s Council of Presidents last year.
