No. 21 Lehigh takes down Binghamton 23-16 in 2012-13 opener
The 21st-ranked Lehigh wrestling team opened its 2012-13 season by winning six bouts in a 23-16 triumph over Binghamton Thursday night inside Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall. Freshman Eric Hess won by first period pin in his varsity dual debut as he was one of three Mountain Hawks to produce bonus points on the evening.

Mountain Hawks return to pool at Big Al Open in New Jersey
The Lehigh swimming and diving teams will head to New Jersey this weekend to compete in the Big Al Open Friday and Saturday at Princeton’s DeNunzio Pool. The Mountain Hawks will compete against Fordham, Georgetown, TCNJ and the host Tigers in what will be Lehigh’s first competition in two weeks.

Barket, Spadola once again named to Academic All-District team
As the Lehigh football team prepares to play for a third straight Patriot League title on Saturday, two Mountain Hawks were recognized for their success in the classroom on Thursday as seniors Zach Barket and Ryan Spadola were named to the Capital One Academic All-District II Football team. The honor is voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) whose schools are in the region.

Lehigh welcomes Holy Cross and Army for weekend finale
Fresh off an impressive straight-set sweep of the Navy Midshipmen last Saturday, the Lehigh volleyball team will conclude its regular season with two more crucial Patriot League tilts against Holy Cross and Army that will hold playoff implications. The Mountain Hawks will take on Holy Cross on Friday night before a Saturday showdown with the Black Knights, who have already clinched a Patriot League Tournament berth.

Lehigh to take on No. 13/15 California in season opener
The Golden State will be the first stop for the Lehigh women’s basketball team as the Mountain Hawks will travel across the country to take on the No. 13/15 California Golden Bears in the season opener Friday night for a 10 p.m. ET (7 p.m. PT) tip-off. Lehigh will begin its quest for the Patriot League crown in 2013 by playing its fourth ranked opponent over the past four seasons and will be searching for its first win over a Top 25 team in any of those match-ups.

Mid-Atlantic Qualifiers are next for Mountain Hawks
After a fourth-place finish at the Patriot League Championships, the Lehigh women’s cross country team will compete at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Qualifiers on the campus of Penn State University on Friday, November 9. The Mountain Hawks will be looking to ride the momentum from their best finish at the Patriot League Championships since notching third place in 2008 race.

Lehigh wraps up fall slate at Frostbite Regatta this weekend
The Lehigh rowing team will wrap up its fall schedule on Saturday when it takes part in the Frostbite Regatta on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J. The Mountain Hawks are coming off a two-week layoff after Hurricane Sandy forced the postponement of last weekend’s Rutgers Fall Classic.

Lehigh kicks off season at #19/18 Baylor Friday
The Lehigh men’s basketball team kicks off a highly-anticipated 2012-13 season on Friday when it travels to Waco, Texas to face the #19/18 Baylor Bears. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. Eastern (4 p.m. local) and will air regionally on Fox Sports Southwest. It can also be seen on Dish Channel 416 and DirecTV channel 676. Friday will mark the first time the Mountain Hawks hit the court for game action since their memorable run in the NCAA Tournament when they defeated Duke.

Redfern announces 2013 women’s lacrosse captains
Lehigh head women’s lacrosse coach Jill Redfern announced the team’s 2013 captains on Wednesday following a team vote. Seniors Anna Patterson, Julie McBrien and MaryLeah DiNisco will serve as tri-captains, looking to lead a young and talented Mountain Hawk squad which features nine freshmen and nine sophomores.

Mueller earns Academic All-Patriot League team honors
The latest honor of his impressive season was released today, as junior co-captain Tyler Mueller was selected to the Academic All-Patriot League team. Mueller has been the leader of the Mountain Hawks’ strong 2012 campaign that includes the program’s first ever Patriot League title. Muller has been Lehigh’s top performer in four of the five races he has competed in, as well as earning a 3.35 GPA in the classroom as a bioengineering major.

McCollum earns All-America honor, Lehigh #6 in Mid-Major Top 25
Lehigh senior guard C.J. McCollum was named a preseason Lute Olsen All-American while the Mountain Hawks were ranked sixth in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25, as announced earlier this week. A postseason All-American in 2011-12, McCollum is one of 25 players nationally on the list. He is now eligible for Lute Olsen National Player of the Year laurels, which last season went to Creighton’s Doug McDermott.

Mountain Hawks to host Binghamton Thursday in 2012-13 opener
The 104th season of Lehigh wrestling begins Thursday night as the 21st-ranked Mountain Hawks host Binghamton. Fans will get their first look at a Lehigh squad that finished eighth at last year’s NCAA Championships, but lost three All-Americans to graduation, after last week’s Brown and White Wrestle-offs were cancelled due to Superstorm Sandy. Two-time EIWA Champion and All-American Robert Hamlin leads a Lehigh squad that will feature four freshmen making their varsity debuts.

Famili garners first team All-Patriot League team honors
Sophomore back Ali Famili earned first team All-Patriot League honors after a solid 2012 performance as a part of the Mountain Hawk defense. Famili tallied the second-most minutes (1,469) for Lehigh this season, playing in 16 games and making 15 starts to help anchor a defense that allowed just 1.47 goals per game, which was good for fourth-best in the Patriot League.

League title, playoff berth at stake as No. 5/8 Lehigh hosts Colgate
The Patriot League’s automatic berth in the NCAA FCS Playoffs is on the line Saturday at Goodman Stadium as No. 5/8 Lehigh welcomes the Colgate Raiders and their high-powered offense. The Mountain Hawks moved to 9-0 on the season after erasing a 12-point fourth quarter deficit to hold off Holy Cross 36-35 last weekend. Lehigh is looking to win its third consecutive league title and league-best 11th overall.

Mixture of youth and experience the key for Lehigh in 2012-13
After winning 17 games, earning a two-seed in the Patriot League Tournament and hosting a semifinal game a year ago, the Lehigh women’s basketball team is gearing up for another season-long journey that will hopefully end with a fourth Patriot League championship. Head coach Sue Troyan must replace two key departures, but though this year’s team may be young, they are far from inexperienced.

Men’s Basketball 2012-13 Season Outlook
The 2011-12 Lehigh men’s basketball season was one to remember. The Mountain Hawks won a school-record 27 games and took home their second Patriot League Championship in three years, capping it off with a historic 75-70 NCAA Tournament win over Duke. Wysocki earns Patriot League weekly award
Lehigh junior midfielder Ben Wysocki earned the Patriot League’s Offensive Player of the Week honor after twice aiding the Mountain Hawks in erasing one-goal deficits on Saturday. He first assisted on Lehigh’s opening goal, and then scoring one of his own in dramatic fashion, recording his first three points of the year in arguably their most important match of the season.
