Lehigh drops to Colgate, 3-0, in semifinals of PLT
Despite a terrific effort by senior Taylor Poole who hit .417 in the match, the Lehigh volleyball team fell to Colgate in the semifinals of the Patriot League Tournament on Saturday in straight sets. The Mountain Hawks held leads in the first and third sets, but were unable to capitalize and continue their efforts enough to come away with victories.

Lehigh tops Bloomsburg, 18-12, for second victory
After falling to No. 2 Penn State the night before, the Lehigh wrestling team rebounded with an 18-12 victory over the Bloomsburg Huskies on Saturday afternoon at the Nelson Fieldhouse. Junior Joey Napoli earned an important win at 157 over sixth-ranked Frank Hickman en route to the Mountain Hawks’ second victory of the season. Lehigh will now be idle until November 30 when it will host Hofstra at 7 p.m.

Lehigh charges back for 38-21 win over Lafayette
Trailing 21-10 after the first quarter, the Lehigh football team charged back with a vengeance, downing Lafayette 38-21 Saturday in the 148th meeting between the two schools. It marked the Mountain Hawks’ fifth straight win over the Leopards as they improve to 10-1, their third straight double-digit win season. Senior Mike Colvin was named the game’s MVP, finishing with five touchdowns (four through the air) while passing for a career high-tying 362 yards and rushing for 82 more.

Mountain Hawks sweep Lafayette for fifth straight season
The Lehigh men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams used an impressive all-around effort, sweeping Lafayette on Friday for the fifth straight season. The men picked up a 172-126 win while the women were victorious, 169-125.

Lehigh earns impressive 169-125 win at Lafayette
The Lehigh women’s swimming and diving team picked up a 169-125 win over Lafayette on Friday in a dominant team effort. The Mountain Hawks (1-2) placed first in 12 of 14 swimming events to beat Lafayette for a fifth straight year.

The Lehigh men’s swimming and diving team put forth an impressive team effort to down Lafayette on Friday, 172-126. The Mountain Hawks used nine first-place finishes to come back from an early deficit and capture their ninth straight win over Lafayette.

Napoli, Delia notch wins as Lehigh falls at rival Penn State
Junior Joey Napoli upset second ranked Dylan Alton at 157 but two-time defending national champion and No. 2 ranked Penn State won eight of the first nine bouts en route to a 29-6 win over No. 21 Lehigh Friday night at Rec Hall. The Mountain Hawks were competitive in several other matches, losing four by a combined seven points, as they fall to 1-1 on the season.

McCollum named to Naismith Early Season Watch List
Lehigh senior guard C.J. McCollum continues to garner impressive recognition as earlier this week, he was named to the Naismith Award Early Season Watch List. A First Team All-American by multiple outlets, McCollum was also named a Wooden Award Finalist late last week. In total, there are 50 players on the watch list which will eventually dwindle to one. The Naismith Men’s College Player of the Year presented by AT&T will be awarded on Apr. 7, 2013 in Atlanta.

Lehigh to face top-seeded Colgate in semifinals of PLT Saturday
For the 17th time in program history, the Lehigh volleyball team will compete in the Patriot League Tournament in search of its third Patriot League crown. After a 3-1 victory over Holy Cross last Friday to clinch a tournament bid, the Mountain Hawks will now face the top-seeded Colgate Raiders on their home court on Saturday, November 17 at 3 p.m. It will be Lehigh’s second trip to Hamilton, N.Y. this season, the other a 3-1 win over the Raiders.

Lehigh-Lafayette rivalry resumes in the pool Friday in Easton
In another tradition of Lehigh-Lafayette rivalry week will be renewed Friday night in Easton as the Lehigh swimming and diving teams will compete against Lafayette at 6 p.m. at Ruef Natatorium. The Mountain Hawks will be looking sweep their rivals for the fifth straight year. The meet will be just one of several competitions between the two schools this week, culminating in Saturday’s football game at Fisher Stadium.

Mountain Hawks to face Penn State in Independence Classic
The Lehigh men’s lacrosse team will face rival Penn State on Saturday, Mar. 9 in the Whitman’s® Sampler® Independence Classic, as announced by Inside Lacrosse on Thursday. The Mountain Hawks and Nittany Lions will face off at 5 p.m. in the third game of a tripleheader at PPL Park in Chester, Pa. Lehigh’s game will follow St. John’s vs. Syracuse at 12 p.m. and Penn vs. Villanova at 2:30 p.m.

Mountain Hawks top Saint Peter’s 62-60 for first win
Led by a career-high 17 points and eight rebounds from junior Lindsay Hoskins, the Lehigh women’s basketball team pulled out its first win of the season on Wednesday, downing Saint Peter’s 62-60. The Mountain Hawks took their first lead of the game early in the second half, going up by as many as six before holding on for the hard-fought road victory.

Lehigh hits the road for battles with No. 2 Penn State, Bloomsburg
The Lehigh wrestling team takes to the road for the first time this season with a pair of weekend duals against in-state foes. The 21st-ranked Mountain Hawks will first visit two-time defending national champion Penn State Friday in the 101st dual meet between the longtime Eastern rivals. Then, Lehigh will stop in Bloomsburg to face the Huskies Saturday afternoon. The Mountain Hawks opened their season with a 23-16 win over Binghamton on November 8.

Lehigh to host consolation round of NIT Season Tip-Off
The Lehigh men’s basketball team, seeded fifth in the 16-team NIT Season Tip-Off, will welcome Fairfield, Penn and Fordham as part of a consolation round next Monday (Nov. 19) and Tuesday (Nov. 20). Lehigh will face Fairfield on Monday and Penn on Tuesday, both set for 8:30 p.m. tips. Fordham will play in both early games, which are slated for 6 p.m.

Pittsburgh pulls away in second half for 78-53 win over Lehigh
The Lehigh men’s basketball hung tough for much of the first half, but Pittsburgh opened a five-point halftime lead and extended that in the second, downing the Mountain Hawks 78-53 Tuesday night at the Petersen Events Center. With the win, the Panthers advance to the semifinals of the NIT Season Tip-Off while Lehigh will play in a consolation pod next Monday and Tuesday. Those pairings will be announced on Wednesday.

Clark earns Academic All-Patriot League team selection
Lehigh junior volleyball player Amanda Clark earned a selection to the Academic All-Patriot League team for the second-consecutive year after her impressive efforts in the classroom and on the court this season. Clark currently holds a 3.73 GPA as a Biology major, while also finishing the regular season second on the team with 203 kills and third with a .240 hitting percentage.

After falling to No. 13/15 Cal on Friday night in Berkeley, Calif., the Lehigh women’s basketball team will look to bounce back with a win when it takes on St. Peter’s in Jersey City, N.J. on Wednesday night for the third time in program history. The game will be the second of the season for both teams as each side will be looking for its first win of the 2012-13 season.

Charles and Poole earn All-Patriot League honors
Junior Rachel Charles earned the Libero of the Year award for the second-consecutive season, while senior outside hitter Taylor Poole was named first team All-Patriot League on Tuesday afternoon. Along with earning Libero of the Year, Charles was also named a second team All-Patriot League performer by the league.

Lehigh seeks fifth straight win over Lafayette Saturday in 148th meeting
The 148th edition of college football’s most played rivalry will take place Saturday at Fisher Stadium as No. 12/14 Lehigh battles Lafayette. The Mountain Hawks will be looking to bounce back last week’s tough 35-24 setback to Colgate. Lehigh led 24-14 at halftime but was kept off the scoreboard in the second half as the Mountain Hawks suffered their first loss of the season.
