Lehigh’s games at VCU and Baylor to be televised
Lehigh men’s basketball games at VCU and Baylor will air on NBC Sports Network and Fox Sports Southwest, respectively, giving the Mountain Hawks at least five nationally-televised games and several more on regional networks. Lehigh will face the Rams on Jan. 5 on NBC Sports Network (formally Versus) while the team’s opener at Baylor will air regionally in five states in the Southwest.

Mountain Hawks to race for first title of fall season
The first Patriot League champion will be crowned on Saturday, as the cross country teams will take to the Harry H. Lang course in Hamilton, N.Y. in search of the first title of the fall 2012 season. After a 24th-place finish in a star-studded field at the Pre-Nationals in Louisville, Ky., the Lehigh men’s cross country team will be seeking its first Patriot League Championship. The women will be in search of their second title in school history, the lone championship coming in the fall of 1992.

Mountain Hawks seek Patriot League title Saturday
The Lehigh women’s cross country team will be in search of the Patriot League crown this Saturday when it treks to Hamilton, N.Y. to compete in the 2012 Patriot League Championships on the Harry H. Lang course at the campus of Colgate. Led by senior Julia Perry and junior co-captains Tori Berard and Sam Andersen, the Mountain Hawks will be in search of their second title in school history, the lone championship coming in 1992.

Mountain Hawks host #11 Lafayette Saturday on Senior Day
The Lehigh field hockey team wraps up its season on Saturday with a big Senior Day matchup against the archrival Leopards. Gametime is set for 11 a.m. Saturday marks the squad’s first home game in three weeks, and 10th of the season at the friendly confines of the Ulrich Sports Complex. Lafayette is the Mountain Hawks’ third ranked opponent of the season and second at home (along with Penn State).

Lehigh to run for Patriot League Championship
After a 24th-place finish in a star-studded field at the Pre-Nationals in Louisville, Ky., the Lehigh men’s cross country team will travel to Hamilton, N.Y. to compete in the Patriot League Championships hosted by Colgate on the Harry H. Lang course. Lehigh will be in search of its first Patriot League Championship as the Mountain Hawks have come as close as second in 1992, falling just 21 points shy of Bucknell.

Seniors reflect on their time as Mountain Hawks
Three Lehigh men’s soccer seniors will conclude their final season in the brown and white, as they have created a legacy, playing a key role in the Mountain Hawks’ recent success with three-consecutive Patriot League Tournament appearances. The group has excelled off-the-field as well, earning numerous academic accolades. The Class of 2013 has been assembled from three different regions of the United States including Illinois, Georgia and Maine.

NCAA announces latest Graduation Success Rate data
The NCAA announced the latest Graduation Success Rate (GSR) report data Thursday afternoon as well as Federal Graduation Rate information for student-athletes who entered Lehigh in the 2005-06 academic year. The data shows that Lehigh continues to graduate student-athletes at rates that are higher than national averages and at least as high as the rates for all Lehigh students.

Mountain Hawks welcome three league rivals in fall finale
Lehigh men’s tennis team will be hosting the Lehigh Fall Invitational beginning Friday at 3:30 p.m. The three-day event continues through Sunday with matches taking place on the Ulrich Varsity Courts and inside the Lewis Tennis Center. Lehigh welcomes Patriot League foes Army, Colgate and Lafayette for its final event of the fall season.

Lehigh field hockey senior tribute
The 2012 Lehigh field hockey senior class has advanced to two Patriot League Tournaments in their careers, including last season when they finished with a 3-2 league mark for the first time since 2007. This year, the Mountain Hawks defeated a CAA team for the first time since 2006 while scoring their most goals since 2004 in that contest. Hailing from Leesburg, Virginia, senior soccer player Mary Grace Doyle has matured unlike no other over her career at Lehigh. She’s always had outstanding leadership, but admits that asking questions and listening was the key to her success. Coincidently, after seeking feedback, she transformed herself into one of the most recognizable leaders on campus.

McCollum and Knutson named 2012-13 team captains
Lehigh head coach Brett Reed announced on Thursday that seniors C.J. McCollum and Gabe Knutson will serve as 2012-13 team captains. Both All-Patriot League performers and 1,000-point scorers, McCollum is a three-year captain while Knutson earns captain distinction for the first time. Entering their senior seasons, the duo has helped Lehigh to two Patriot League Championships, combining for 3,184 career points while also making their mark off the court as leaders.

Lehigh picked to finish fifth in Patriot League preseason poll
After a 17-win season and an appearance in the semifinals of the Patriot League Tournament, the Lehigh women’s basketball team was predicted to finish fifth in the annual preseason poll released by the Patriot League on Thursday. The Mountain Hawks garnered 58 points, finishing just eight points shy of fourth-place Army (66 points).

Eng Engineers Success
Kim Eng is one of six Lehigh field hockey seniors who will play their final regular season game on Saturday as the Mountain Hawks host archrival Lafayette at 11 a.m. Hard to believe it was three years ago when she entered Lehigh with a bang, posting a Patriot League leading 13 goals and 34 points. Over her career, she helped lead the Mountain Hawks to two league tournaments while becoming one of Lehigh’s all-time greatest scorers in the process.

Elliott earns national honor from College Soccer 360
Paige Elliott of Lehigh women’s soccer has been named a College Soccer 360.com Primetime Performer of the Week following her stellar play in wins over Bucknell and Colgate last weekend. The freshman defender led the Mountain Hawks to consecutive victories that pushed the squad into the Patriot League Tournament picture with one game remaining in the regular season.

Lehigh picked first, several honored at Patriot League Media Day
The Lehigh men’s basketball team was picked first in the Patriot League preseason poll while seniors C.J. McCollum and Gabe Knutson were both honored at the league’s Media Day held Wednesday at Arts Quest Center at SteelStacks. McCollum was named preseason Player of the Year while Knutson earned a spot on the preseason All-League Team. Both were in attendance, along with head coach Brett Reed, Bucknell’s Mike Muscala and the league’s seven other head coaches.

Lehigh clipped by No. 1 Maryland, 2-1, on Tuesday night
Despite an outstanding effort on the pitch tonight, the Lehigh men’s soccer team was edged by the top-ranked Maryland Terrapins on Tuesday night, 2-1. After Lehigh fell behind 1-0 in the first half, junior James Meyerkord’s second goal of the season evened the score as the Mountain Hawks took the No. 1 Terrapins to the brink of overtime before a goal with under three minutes sealed a win for Maryland.
