Greeley and Elliott earn Patriot League weekly awards
Junior Murphee Greeley and freshman Paige Elliott from the Lehigh women’s soccer team have earned Patriot League weekly awards, as announced on Monday. Greeley earned Offensive Player of the Week while Elliott garnered Defensive laurels. It marks the second straight week the Mountain Hawks garnered two weekly awards after sophomore Darby Dustman and freshman Ani Nahapetian captured Offensive and Goalie of the Week one week ago.

McCollum named AP Preseason All-American
In perhaps his most impressive honor to date, Lehigh senior guard C.J. McCollum has been named a preseason First Team All-American, as announced by The Associated Press on Monday. McCollum joins Cody Zeller (Indiana), Doug McDermott (Creighton), Deshaun Thomas (Ohio State), Isaiah Cannon (Murray State) and Trey Burke (Michigan) as the top players in the nation. There were six named to the team due to a tie in voting.

Patriot League Tournament information released
Complete information for the 2012 Patriot League Women’s Soccer Tournament was released on Sunday as the fourth-seeded Mountain Hawks will face #1 and host Navy on Friday at 7 p.m. That follows a 3 p.m. showdown featuring #2 Colgate against #3 American. There will be live video and statistics available for both semifinal games and Saturday’s championship game (which is set for 2 p.m.).

Lehigh finishes fall season with strong showing versus league rivals
The Lehigh men’s tennis team closed out its fall season with a strong showing in the three-day Lehigh Fall Invitational which concluded Sunday inside the Lewis Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks battled league rivals Colgate, Lafayette and Army and posted a combined record of 20-7 in their final action of the fall season.

Mountain Hawks face off against Raiders, Leopards in fall finale
The Lehigh women’s tennis team wrapped up its fall season welcoming Colgate and Lafayette for the Lehigh Fall Invitational, which concluded Sunday at the Lewis Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks squared off against the Raiders in singles and doubles and defeated the Leopards in five singles matches to close out the fall slate.

Mountain Hawks drop 1-0 heartbreaker to American
After creating a plethora of opportunities and outshooting the Eagles, 23-11, the Lehigh men’s soccer team fell to American Saturday night on a second half goal, 1-0. Junior James Meyerkord blasted seven shots, two of which were on the net, but he and the rest of the Mountain Hawks were unable to find the back of the goal despite immense pressure all night.

Lehigh puts forth strong effort at Head of the Schuylkill
The Lehigh rowing team put forward a strong overall effort on Saturday at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia. The Mountain Hawks had numerous top 10 finishes, competing in six different events on the day. It marked the first action of the season for numerous crews, including all the freshmen.

Mountain Hawks making progress towards start of new season
The Lehigh wrestling team is continuing preparations for the 2012-13 season. The Mountain Hawks have been hard at work for more than two weeks of official practice. Things have been slightly different in the room with 15 freshmen on the roster, but head coach Pat Santoro likes what he’s seen so far and knows there is still plenty of work still to be done.

Lehigh downs league rival Colgate for first win
The Lehigh men’s swimming and diving team picked up its first win of the dual season, downing host Colgate 88-23 Saturday at Lineberry Natatorium. Yale was also on hand competing as an exhibition, but the Mountain Hawks won 10 of the 13 events against the Raiders to even their season record at 1-1.

Lehigh women come up short against strong Colgate squad
Despite a valiant effort, the Lehigh women’s swimming and diving team dropped its first Patriot League meet to Colgate 79-32 Saturday at Lineberry Natatorium. The Mountain Hawks hung tough against the perennial league championship contending Raiders, and a strong Yale squad that also competed in the meet as an exhibition.

Mountain Hawks drop season finale to #11 Lafayette
The Lehigh field hockey team battled hard, but struggled to convert in an 8-0 loss to #11 Lafayette on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks tied the Leopards in second-half shots (10-10), this against a Lafayette squad who hadn’t allowed a shot in over a game. It was also Senior Day as Lehigh’s six seniors were recognized prior to the contest.

Lehigh men capture first Patriot League title in program history
Led by junior co-captain Jimmy Miller, the Lehigh men’s cross country team won its first ever Patriot League championship behind three top 10 finishes for a two-point victory over the Navy Midshipmen. Miller crossed the line in 25:41.3 for a fourth-place finish, as sophomore Ryan Mahalsky (25:42.8) took fifth and junior co-captain Tyler Mueller finished seventh (25:47.1). The Mountain Hawks scored a combined 54 points, edging Navy’s 56 for the title.

Mountain Hawks soar into postseason with 4-0 win over Holy Cross
The Lehigh women’s soccer team scored early and often, while allowing only eight shots, in a dominant 4-0 Senior Day win over Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Mountain Hawks have advanced to the Patriot League Tournament for the second time in the last three seasons where they look for their second league championship in that span. Junior Murphee Greeley led the way with a pair of goals to tie a career high.

Mountain Hawks finish fourth at Patriot League Championships
Behind a fourth-place finish by senior Julia Perry, the Lehigh women’s cross country team took fourth place in the 2012 Patriot League Championships in Hamilton N.Y. Perry was the top Lehigh performer, finishing in 22:41.4 on Harry H. Lang course, followed by sophomore Ingrid Simon who crossed the line in 23:22.0 for 11th place. The fourth-place finish is the best for the women since taking third in the 2008 Patriot League Championships.

Lehigh drops Lafayette in straight sets for season sweep
Led by sophomore Jade Van Streepen and junior Amanda Clark’s eight kills apiece, the Lehigh volleyball team knocked off the rival Leopards in straight sets for the second time this season, improving to 6-4 in Patriot League play. The Mountain Hawks held commanding leads in each set, winning each game by a minimum of seven points. Lehigh will now turn its attention to American for next Friday’s crucial Patriot League tilt.

Mountain Hawks head to the Head of the Schuylkill Saturday
Following its season-opening weekend at the Head of the Charles, the Lehigh rowing team will return to action on Saturday at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia. The Mountain Hawks will send a number of crews to the City of Brotherly Love after only two boats raced a week ago. A two-day regatta, all of Lehigh’s boats will race on Saturday.

Lehigh welcomes Holy Cross in regular season finale
Lehigh looks to close out its regular season on a high note when it takes on the Holly Cross Crusaders Saturday at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. on Senior Day. The Mountain Hawks will look to ride a two-game winning streak in a must-win tilt. A Lehigh victory, coupled with some help, could lead the squad into the Patriot League Tournament for the second time in the last three years.

Mountain Hawks head to Colgate for first league meet
The Lehigh swimming and diving teams will compete in their second meet of the season when they travel to Hamilton, N.Y. Saturday to take on the Colgate Raiders. Both teams will look to bounce back from hard-fought losses in their season opening meets when they begin Patriot League competition against the Raiders. Yale will also compete in the event, but its swimmers will not count towards scoring.
