Lehigh hosts Lehigh Invitational at Saucon Valley

SAUCON VALLEY, Pa. – Lehigh hosted the Lehigh Invitational this weekend at Saucon Valley Country Club and the Mountain Hawks finished seventh in the nine-team tournament as they shot a two-day total of 648 (318, 330). Leading the way for the Brown and White was sophomore Steve Suarez who shot a 153 (77, 76) to finish in a tie for fourth place. Teammate Will Robinson was not far behind as he totaled a 158 (77, 81), good for an eleventh place tie. The University of Pennsylvania was the overall team champion as the Quakers shot a 615 (308, 307).
Other Mountain Hawks that competed on Lehigh’s A team were Chad Lubart who tied for 33rd place with a score of 168 (82, 86), Shane Gilroy who finished in a tie for 36th place with a score of 171 (82, 89) and Eric Feather who totaled a 175 (88, 87) which put him in a tie for 41st place.
Mountain Hawks competing on Lehigh’s B team were John Powell who finished with a two-day total of 165 (82, 83) and tied for 29th place, Chris Ellinghausen who finished in a tie for 36th place with a score of 171 (87, 84), Duncan Zeiders who tied for 38th place with a score of 173 (86, 87) and Dylan Evans who also tied for 38th place with a 173 (88, 85).
Penn’s Michael Blodgett was the individual champion as he shot a 150 (75, 75), while Bucknell’s Raul Desai (81, 70 = 151) and Siena’s Don Denyse (73, 78 = 151) both tied for second place overall.
With this tournament, Lehigh’s fall season comes to a close. The Mountain Hawks will begin their spring season on March 17 when the Mountain Hawks travel to compete in the William & Mary Invitational. Tee time is set for 8:00 AM.
