EASTON, Pa.- For the third straight year, Lehigh swept Lafayette at the annual dual, Saturday morning at Lafayette. For the men, freshman Dan McClimon won his second individual title of the season, finishing the 8k race in 27:13. On the women’s side, junior captain Shannon Alejandro won her second race of the year, finishing the 6k course in 21:14. The overall score of the men’s race was Lehigh 16 Lafayette 47, while the overall score of the women’s race was Lehigh 22 Lafayette 35.
The women placed six runners in the top ten, with Alejandro leading the way. Freshman Alexis Weiner continued to run extremely well, finishing second overall at 21:46. Other Lehigh women runners in the top ten were Dana Stellar (22:13), Kathleen McClernand (22:24), Kaitlin Grimm (22:38) and Andrea Mascaro (22:41).
The men blew away the Leopards runners, taking nine of the top ten spots, led by McClimon. Junior Ben Lampi had his best finish of the year, taking second overall, with a time of 27:24. Other Lehigh runners in the top ten were Jared LaBar (27:25), Jonathon Wetzel (27:26), Carl Leunig (27:29), Douglas Ridyard (27:24), Leo Smith (27:42), Matt Sheridan (27:43) and Patrick Holmes (28:00).
The top runner for the Leopards women’s team was Rose Kennedy, who finished third overall at 21:52. The lone Lafayette runner in the top ten for the men was Ryan Stasiowski, who finished fifth overall at 27:27.
Lehigh returns to action on September 28, when they host the Paul Short Run on the Goodman Campus. One of the nation’s largest cross country races, the Paul Short Run features over 2,000 runners from nearly 140 colleges and high schools. The race is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
