Cross country teams take top spots at Muhlenberg

ALLENTOWN, Pa.- The Lehigh men’s and women’s cross country teams opened the 2007 season at the Muhlenberg Cross Country Invitational.  In an unscored meet between Lehigh, DeSales, and Muhlenberg, the Mountain Hawks placed seven runners in the top ten in both the men’s and women’s races.  Lehigh sophomore Kaitlin Grimm finished in first for the women, while fellow Mountain Hawk Dan McClimon finished atop the men’s side.

 

Grim finished with an overall time of 15:03 in the 4k race, and was closely followed by freshman teammate Alexis Weiner at 15:06.  The Mountain Hawks also took the next three spots to round out the top five.  Dana Steller finished third with a time 15:31, followed by sophomore Jen Curran at 15:46, and Jen Filiberto at 15:51.  Ali Sanchez and Hanna Baskin also finished in the top ten, with times of 15:55 and 16:05 respectively.

 

On the men’s side, freshman Dan McClimon finished first overall with a time of 12:34.  Teammates Dan Dewitt and Carl Leunig trailed right behind him, finishing with times of 12:45 and 12:46.  Ben Lampi, Pat Holmes, Bryan Herbst and Andrew Jervis also finished in the top ten for the Mountain Hawks.

 

Lehigh returns to action on September 7, when the Goodman Campus hosts the Lehigh Valley Championships.  The race is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
