Mountain Hawks begin indoor season with exceptional Season Opener
Lehigh’s women’s track and field teams began its indoor season with a successful Season Opener that included eight first-place finishers, a number of personal records and a solid foundation for what could amount to an extremely strong 2012-13 season. The Mountain Hawks’ effort was highlighted by first-place finish in the 400 meters by Danielle Albergo with a time of 59:45.

Lehigh starts with success at Season Opener
Lehigh’s men’s track and field team began its indoor season with a successful Season Opener that included six first-place finishers, a number of personal records and a solid foundation for what could amount to an extremely strong 2012-13 season. The Mountain Hawks featured a first-place by sophomore Benjamin Beauchamp in the weight throw with a distance of 15.83 meters.

Mountain Hawks roll to 34-7 win over visiting Hofstra
In its first action in nearly two weeks, No. 21 Lehigh returned home with a 34-7 win over Hofstra Friday night inside Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall. Sophomore Anthony Salupo knocked off eighth-ranked Luke Vaith 8-5 at 141 highlighting a night in which the Mountain Hawks won eight bouts, scoring bonus points in five of the eight wins with two pins, a technical fall and two major decisions.

Men picked fourth, women third in track and field indoor preseason poll
The Lehigh men’s and women’s track and field teams were picked to finish fourth and third in the Patriot League’s preseason poll released on Friday. Last season, the Lehigh men finished fourth at the Indoor Patriot League Championships, while the women finished third. Lehigh begins its indoor season tonight with the Lehigh Season Opener inside Rauch Fieldhouse at 5 p.m.

Lehigh welcomes Fairleigh Dickinson Saturday night
Following a pair of games in Connecticut, the Lehigh men’s basketball team returns home for two straight beginning Saturday when it welcomes Fairleigh Dickinson for a 7 p.m. tipoff. The Mountain Hawks are eying their fifth straight win overall and 10th straight over an NEC foe (dating back to 2010). A win would also give Lehigh head coach Brett Reed his 100th career win, making him the fastest in Patriot League history to 100 victories.

Mountain Hawks upended by Wildcats, 66-49
After ending the first half on an 11-0 run to trim Villanova’s lead to just 11, the Lehigh women’s basketball team fell to the Wildcats on Thursday night by a final score of 66-49. Sophomore Sarah Williams dropped a season-high 14 points, while freshman Kerry Kinek was again in double figures with 10 points, but double-digit treys by Villanova equated to a loss for the Mountain Hawks.

Mountain Hawks begin indoor season Friday by hosting Season Opener
The Lehigh men’s and women’s track and field programs will begin their preparation for a journey towards the Patriot League title on Friday when the Mountain Hawks host the Season Opener. Lehigh will be one of six teams competing on Friday in the first event of the 2012-13 indoor season set to be held at Rauch Fieldhouse on the Goodman Campus starting at 5 p.m.

Mountain Hawks recognized with NSCAA Academic Award
The Lehigh women’s soccer team has been honored with an NSCAA Academic Award following a strong year in the classroom, as recently announced. The Mountain Hawks earned the award for the 10th consecutive season for their effort in the 2011-12 academic year.

Lehigh women’s lacrosse has announced the schedule for the Class of 2015 Open House set for Sunday, Jan. 27 from 3:30-5 p.m. The event will include a tour of campus, an information session and Q&A led by the Lehigh coaching staff.

Lao-Gosneys to play for Team USA in Champion Challenge
Former Lehigh men’s lacrosse standouts Cameron and Roman Lao-Gosney have cracked the U.S. Men’s National Team roster for the eighth annual Champion® Challenge. The U.S. will play a pair of exhibitions, facing 2012 NCAA semifinalist Notre Dame on Saturday, Jan. 26 and then defending NCAA champion Loyola on Sunday.

Four Mountain Hawks set to compete at USA Winter Nationals
Lehigh will send four swimmers to compete in the USA Swimming AT&T Winter National Championships hosted by the University of Texas. The event, which will be held at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center, is set to begin Thursday morning and will conclude on Saturday.

After weekend off, No. 21 Lehigh set to host Hofstra and Penn
Following a rare Thanksgiving weekend away from competition, No. 21 Lehigh returns home for a pair of duals against regional foes. The Mountain Hawks will host Hofstra Friday night before welcoming EIWA rival Penn Saturday afternoon in the conference opener for both teams. Lehigh went 1-1 on its first road trip of the season, falling 29-6 at Penn State on November 16 before bouncing back with an 18-12 win at Bloomsburg the following day.

Meet the baseball class of 2016
Lehigh head baseball coach Sean Leary introduced the team’s incoming class of 2016 on November 28. In total, nine student-athletes from a variety of states entered Lehigh this fall, looking to help replace an impressive senior class which included local products Cory Kent and Brendan McGaheran, among others. This class features many top recruits including state champions, prospects identified by Perfect Game and also a few local stars as well.

Reeling from a 55-50 double-overtime loss to Monmouth on Sunday, the Lehigh women’s basketball team will be searching to rebound with a win against the Wildcats of Villanova on Thursday night. Lehigh will be looking to snap a two-game skid against Nova with their first win at The Pavilion in program history.

McCollum takes over in impressive 77-66 win at Quinnipiac
Down 62-61 with just over five minutes left in the second half, Lehigh senior C.J. McCollum scored 14 straight Mountain Hawk (5-2) points to help Lehigh pull away for a 77-66 win at Quinnipiac on Tuesday evening. After not scoring for the game’s first 9:49, McCollum finished with 30 points, already his third game with 30+ points this season and the 17th of his career. He also posted nine rebounds and four assists to help Lehigh win at Quinnipiac for the first time in school history.

McCollum earns ECAC Player of the Week honors
Lehigh senior C.J. McCollum continues to rack in the honors, garnering ECAC Player of the Week on Tuesday just a day after earning Patriot League Player of the Week laurels. It marks McCollum’s fifth-career ECAC weekly award after garnering two in both his sophomore and junior seasons. He is also a former ECAC Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year.

Lehigh tied for second in initial Presidents' Cup standings
The Patriot League announced its initial Presidents’ Cup standings on Tuesday with Lehigh tied for second overall at the completion of the fall season. Lehigh checks in with 32 points and tops the men’s overall standings with 16 points. The Mountain Hawk women are tied for fifth place with 16 points.

Mountain Hawks head to Quinnipiac for Tuesday night showdown
The Lehigh men’s basketball team looks to continue its recent roll when it travels to Quinnipiac to face the Bobcats Tuesday. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at the TD Bank Sports Center. The Mountain Hawks are coming off an impressive 91-77 win over Sacred Heart Sunday, a game which saw Lehigh lead by as many as 30. Senior C.J. McCollum paced the offense with 26 points to become the all-time leading scorer in Patriot League history.
