Mountain Hawks open season at Colgate Invite

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Lehigh opened its 2006 fall season this weekend at the Colgate Invitational with an eighth place finish at the 17-school event, shooting a 620 over the two-day event. The Mountain Hawks were led by Steve Suarez, who shot a 148 (73, 75), good for sixth place overall. Other finishers for the Brown and White were Alan Borowsky (149), Shane Gilroy (161), Matt Denison (162) and Jon Abramson (173).
Bucknell was the team champion with a two-round score of 593, besting second place Binghamton by three strokes. St. Francis, Central Connecticut and Cornell rounded out the top five. Le Moyne’s Dan McCarthy took top honors, shooting a 143 (72, 71) to take the individual crown.
Lehigh will be back in action on September 15 when they head west to take part in the Bucknell Invitational in Lewisburg. Tee time is set for 8:30 a.m.
