Lehigh drops second match to Iona

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Mountain Hawks ended their trip to the Buckeye Invitational with a chance to avenge a loss to the Iona Gaels from last weekend’s Temple Invitational. Unfortunately for the Mountain Hawks, the Gaels took Saturday morning’s match in three straight games with scores of 30-21, 30-26 and 30-28. The loss drops Lehigh to 0-6 on the season while the Gaels improve to 2-5.
Rookie Mo Reynolds recorded her first collegiate double-double by having a team-high 11 kills and 10 digs. Freshman Sarah Wolfe’s had a team-best .667 hitting percentage, recording four kills off 6 total attacks. Also, freshman Brittany Thruston had a game-best four service aces. The team recorded a game-high 53 digs and were led by seniors Michelle Schendenmann and Cassidy Maumus who had 13 and 12 digs, respectively.
Iona’s Katie Brilla had a game-high 12 kills while Alyssa Morales recorded a team-high 12 digs.
Lehigh opens the season at Leeman-Turner Arena on Wednesday at 7:00 pm when it hosts Fairleigh Dickinson.
