Olsson, Lehigh win at MSM in spring opener

THURMONT, Md. – With a one-round score of 82, Lehigh sophomore Tiina Olsson took individual medalist honors on Friday at the Mount St. Mary’s Spring Thing, in helping lead the Mountain Hawks to a team victory in the six-team competition. Olsson paced Lehigh for the first time in her career, and four Lehigh golfers placed in the top ten. The Mount St. Mary’s Spring Thing took place at the par 72 Maple Run Golf Course.
As a team, the Mountain Hawks shot a 344 to win the event by five strokes over second place Mount St. Mary’s.
Other Mountain Hawks that had strong showings on the afternoon were Allison Juster (87) who tied for fourth place with teammate Alison Webb. Yvonne Kukora finished one stroke in back of Allison and Alison, finishing in a seventh place tie with an 88. Paige Cullen (101) also took part in the event for the Mountain Hawks, earning a top 20 finish.
Lehigh returns to action on Saturday, April 1, as the Brown and White take part in the two-day Georgetown Invitational in Leesburg, Va.
