MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Mountain Hawks opened up their spring break trip to Florida by defeating Florida Tech 6-3 on Monday afternoon. Lehigh won all three doubles matches and split six singles contests, to earn six of a possible nine points and improve to 5-4 on the season.
Lehigh started strong winning all three doubles matches, including a very close match at third doubles, were sophomore Alexis Jacobi and freshman Ariela Cohen edged Stephanie Monaco and Aya Nakatsuji 9-8.
The Panthers came back to win at the first three singles flights, but Lehigh got straight set wins from Lindsay Long at fourth singles, Cessa Murasko-Blank and fifth singles and Starrine Foster at sixth singles to cement the win.
The Mountain Hawks will continue their trek through Florida on Wednesday when they will travel to Jacksonville to take on the Dolphins at 12:00.
