WEST POINT, N.Y. – Following a lengthy layoff the Lehigh diving team returned to the pool this weekend at the two day Black Knight Diving Invitational. The Mountain Hawks sent three women and three men to the event, which took place Saturday and Sunday at Army’s Crandall Pool. Lehigh competed against divers from Bucknell, Colgate, Stony Brook and Western Connecticut State as well as the host Black Knights and several Mountain Hawks put forth impressive performances.
Lehigh’s top finisher was sophomore Clark Cohen, who placed second in the men’s one meter scoring 259.15 points in the finals. On the women’s side, freshman Nikki Perella and senior captain Laura Gray finished 2-3 in the one meter dive. Perella edged out her teammate just under two points to earn second place honors with a score of 217.65.
Perella and Gray both qualified for the finals in the three meter as well, this time Gray edging Perella by 0.45 points for fourth place.
On the men’s side, Cohen took seventh in the three meter with a score of 219.45, while senior David Edelstein qualified for the finals in the one meter, placing eighth with a score of 181.35.
Army’s Chelsea Haviland won both women’s events, while on the men’s side Adam Freeman of Bucknell won the one meter and Army’s Doug Klein won the three meter. Complete Lehigh results can be found below.
The Mountain Hawks will return to the pool on Saturday, January 21 when the swimmers and divers return to Crandall Pool for a dual meet with Army. The meet gets underway at 1:00 pm from West Point, N.Y.
