Kukora again leads Lehigh, Mountain Hawks fifth at ECAC
Posted: October 23, 2005
FALMOUTH, Mass. – Lehigh sophomore Yvonne Kukora shot a 175 over two days to lead the Mountain Hawks to a fifth place finish at the ECAC Division I Women’s Golf Championship. The event was held under brisk conditions at the par 72 Ballymeade Country Club in Falmouth. Harvard University won the ten team event by a comfortable 55 strokes over second place Hartford.
Harvard’s Ali Bode shot a 161 to capture medalist honors. Bode topped teammate Jessica Hazlett by one stroke to win the championship.
For Lehigh, the Mountain Hawks were forced to shake off the rust, competing in their first competitive tournament in almost a month due to wet weather. The long layoff didn’t seem to faze Kukora. She paced her squad for the fourth time in the fall – posting the lowest Lehigh score in every competition this fall. Kukora’s 175 (84-91) was good for a 12th place tie individually overall.
Elsewhere for the Mountain Hawks, Alison Webb (85-91-176) finished one stroke behind Kukora. Tiina Olsson (86-101) and Allison Juster (94-93) each scored a 187 to finish in the top 30. Katey Gumz (98-105-203) rounded out the scoring for the Mountain Hawks.
The ECAC Championship concludes fall play for the Lehigh women’s golf program.
