Mountain Hawks begin season with win at Colgate Invite

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Lehigh shot a 602 as a team to capture first place in the 2005 Colgate Fall Invitational, which took place at the par 72 Seven Oaks Golf Course on the Colgate University campus. The Mountain Hawks shot a 294 on Saturday and a 308 on Sunday to win the season-opening event by two strokes over St. Francis (N.Y.). Host Colgate finished fifth overall.
Individually, the Mountain Hawks were led by the play of junior Max Muller, who shot a 70 on Saturday and a 74 on Sunday to finish second overall with an even par 144. Muller was one stroke off the pace of Le Moyne’s Dan McCarthy, who captured medalist honors with a 143 overall.
Several other Mountain Hawks played well in Hamilton over the weekend. Junior Alan Borowsky and freshman Will Robinson each finished in a tie for sixth overall, with both golfers posting a 149, just six strokes off the top spot. Senior Jason Moloney rounded out the Lehigh scoring with a 16-over par 160 on the weekend.
Lehigh resumes fall competition on Friday when the Mountain Hawks take part in the two-day Bucknell Invitational in Lewisburg, Pa.
