Mountain Hawks begin season with win at Kutztown

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Lehigh sophomores Yvonne Kukora and Allison Juster each posted a 77 to tie for medalist honors as the Mountain Hawks captured first place in the seven-team Kutztown Fall Invitational on Thursday afternoon in the team’s 2005-06 season opener. As a team, Lehigh shot a 317 in cruising to the 23-stroke victory over second place and host Kutztown. The invite was held under warm conditions at the par 74, 5,827 yard Berkleigh Country Club.
Lehigh senior co-captain Sarah March shot an 81 on the day to finish fourth overall. Sophomore Amanda Furiasse was one stroke in back of March, posting an 82. Classmate Tiina Olsson (84) rounded out the Lehigh scoring on the afternoon.
Lehigh’s 23-stroke margin of victory ties the largest margin of victory in school history.
The Mountain Hawks look for back-to-back victories as Lehigh returns to the links on Friday, September 16. On that day, the Mountain Hawks will play host to the Lehigh Fall Invitational at Wedgewood Country Club.
