Mountain Hawks slide to fifth at 2005 PL championships
Posted: April 24, 2005
Lewisburg, PA – Lehigh experienced some tough luck on Sunday as the Mountain Hawks fell to a fifth place finish at the 2005 Patriot League men’s golf championships at Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg on Sunday afternoon.
Lehigh, in third place through day one of the competition, dropped to fifth despite second and third round scores that were comparable to the opening round of play.
Army won the event for the ninth time in 15 years – this time with a seven-stroke margin of victory over second place and host Bucknell.
Lehigh sophomore Ross Feldman was a mark of consistency, shooting a 74 in all three rounds on the par-70 course. His total of 222 was good enough to place him in a tie for tenth place – the only Lehigh golfer to earn All-Patriot League status.
Elsewhere for the Mountain Hawks, Jason Moloney registered a top 20 finish. Moloney was tied for 14th overall at the conclusion of the tournament, after posting rounds of 74-75-76 over the 54 holes. Senior Patrick McCahill and sophomore Alan Borowsky rounded out the Lehigh scoring, each posting a 227 to finish tied for 21st.
Bucknell’s Charles Waddell captured individual medalist honors, shooting a one-under par 209 for the tournament.
The Patriot League championship concludes spring play for the Mountain Hawks.
