Annapolis, MD – Lehigh’s John Jaravata shot a three-under par 68 on Sunday to finish in a seventh place tie as the Mountain Hawks finished 15th in a 20-team field at the two-day Navy Spring Invitational. As a team, Lehigh shot a 622 over the two days to finish 28 strokes in back of Guilford College, who won the event, which was held at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course.
After shooting an 81 on Saturday, Jaravata rebounded to shoot a 68 – the best individual round of any golfer in the tournament – on Sunday. His two-day total of 149 placed him in a seventh place tie. Jaravata, a senior, topped teammate Alan Borowsky by three strokes. Borowsky posted a 77 on Saturday and a 75 on Sunday to finish with a 152. Sophomore Ross Feldman (80-77-157) and junior Jason Moloney (82-82-164) rounded out the Lehigh scoring. Sophomore Will Weihenmayer (89-86-175) also competed for the Mountain Hawks, but his total did not count towards the Lehigh team score.
Temple’s Billy Mullen shot a 140 to capture individual medalist honors, besting Guilford’s Colin Clark by two strokes.
Lehigh returns to the links on Wednesday, as the Mountain Hawks take part in the annual Lehigh Valley Collegiate, hosted by Muhlenberg College.
