Win streak at eight as Lehigh tops La Salle, Albany

Georgetown, DE – Lehigh improved to a perfect 4-0 at the Mizuno Bash at the Beach with a pair of victories Saturday afternoon. The Mountain Hawks took the first game 6-2 over La Salle, then defeated
in the nightcap by a 3-1 score. The win is the eighth in a row for the Brown and White who improve to 13-3 on the season.
In the opener it was Stephanie Palmieri with an RBI single and Kate Arico with an RBI double to propel the Mountain Hawks past the Explorers for the second time this season. Emily Ling came out of the bullpen to notch the victory.
Lehigh’s second game was scoreless until the top of the seventh, when Lauren Haney doubled and Mary Wieder brought her home with an RBI single to put the Mountain Hawks up 1-0. Then right fielder Julie Sterrett hit a two run homer, her second jack of the season to put Lehigh up 3-0. The Great Danes got a run in the bottom of the inning and were mounting a rally when Taryn Hanley made a game saving catch at the wall. Ling went the distance in the circle to earn her sixth win of the season.
The Mountain Hawks will continue play at Bash at the Beach on Sunday afternoon at either 10:00 am or noon against an opponent to be determined.
