Bethlehem, PA - The Mountain Hawk men’s tennis team soared to a major win on Saturday, crushing the Fightin’ Blue Hens of of Delaware by a score of 6-1 at the Lewis Center. The win snaps Lehigh’s two match losing streak and improves the Mountain Hawks’ record to 3-5. It wasn’t long into match at Lehigh’s Lewis Tennis Center before the Hawks built a head of steam that would not be denied.
The devastating one-two punch of senior Ty Esler and junior Randall Smalley led the way for the Mountain Hawks. Both recorded singles victories as well as a doubles victory together, proved to be too formidable for their opponents. Lehigh also got singles wins from Ryan Lloyd, Alfredo Fernandez-Concha, Brad Nelson, and John Nespoli. Delaware got its only point taking two of three doubles matches.
Lehigh returns to the court on Sunday to face Drexel in a 1:00 start from the Lewis Tennis Center.
