Mountain Hawks compete at league championships

Lewisburg, PA – Lehigh competed at the 2004 Patriot League Championships on Saturday morning, and it was the men coming in fourth place and the women placing sixth.  Sophomore Jen Schappert led the Mountain Hawks once again led Lehigh as she has done all season, with a second place finish overall, while on the men’s side sophomore Victor Vientos took eighth place.

 

On the men’s side of things, junior Rob Hampson and sophomore Brendan Glover came in 14th and 15th place respectively, while senior co-captain Alex Hudgins raced to a 23rd place finish with a time of 26:36.  Other Mountain Hawk finishers on the men’s side were senior Sam Kirk (31) with a time of 26:53, Tyler Spener (34) and Sean Swift (35).  American was the overall champion with 19 points, as the Eagles placed five runners in the top-ten, including the first place finisher, senior Pat Macadie.

 

For the women, Schappert crossed the finish line in a time of 22:53 to take second place and she was followed by Carolyn House (21), Deanna Willard (51), Sarah Seiler (58), Olivia Basu (67) and Kirsten Wert (68).  Army was the overall team winner as the Black Knights scored 46 points, while Keira Carlstrom of American won the race with a time of 21:44.

 

For theie efforts, Hampson and Vientos were named Second Team All-Patriot League selections, while Schappert was honored as a First-Team choice.

 

Lehigh will return to action on November 13 when the Mountain Hawks travel to Penn State to compete in the NCAA District Championships.
