Lehigh wraps up fall season in Blacksburg

Blacksburg, VA – The Mountain Hawks concluded the fall tennis season by participating in the ITA Division I East Regional Championships, hosted by Virginia Tech.
Senior Ty Esler represented Lehigh in the singles bracket. Esler won his first round match against Derrick Chou of Boston College, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1. In the second round Esler was defeated by Jan Krejci of Stony Brook 6-2, 6-1.
In the doubles bracket the Lehigh duo of Alfredo Fernandez-Concha and Randall Smalley picked up an 8-3 opening round over a team from Robert Morris. The Mountain Hawks would fall in the second round losing 8-1 to Mark Barry and Malcolm Scatliffe of Penn State.
Lehigh will open up the spring 2005 tennis season on January 29, when the Mountain Hawks travel to Providence, R.I. to take on Brown.
