Mountain Hawks finish fourth at Don Mershon

Telford, PA – Lehigh shot a 621 as a team to finish in a fourth place tie at the twelfth annual Don Mershon Classic on October 10-11 at Indian Valley Country Club. Under blustery conditions, golfers fought the elements and the course on the challenging par-72 layout. Siena College shot a 610 to win the event by seven strokes over St. Francis (Pa.) and Rider.
Individually, the Mountain Hawks were led by the play of Jason Moloney, who shot a 152 overall (74-78) to finish in a tie for seventh place. Teammate John Jaravata finished in a 15th place tie (79-75) with a 152. Other Mountain Hawks competing in the event were Patrick McCahill (74-81-155), Will Weihenmayer (78-82-160), Ben Rodney (82-83-165), and Kevin Quinn (87-85-172).
St. Francis’ Ricky Allen captured individual medalist honors by shooting a 71 on Sunday and a 76 on Monday, for a 147. He bested La Salle’s Phil Arouca by a single stroke.
Lehigh resumes fall competition on Saturday when the Mountain Hawks return to the links at the Penn Invitational in Philadelphia.
