Lehigh opens fall schedule at Cornell Invitaional

– Lehigh opened up its fall 2004 season by participating in the Cornell Invitational Tournament.

 

The Mountain Hawks biggest success was in flight C singles where sophomore Francesca Murasko-Blank advanced to the semifinals by defeating Christine Limsiaco of Army before losing to Weatherly Schwab of Cornell. In the consolation bracket Starr Foster replaced Ashley Donohue but lost in the consolation final to Kate Houghton of Army.

 

In other singles action freshman Joann Lee advanced to the consolation finals of the singles flight A, losing to Marissa Limsiaco of Army.

 

In doubles action the team of Alexis Jacobi and Starr Foster advanced to the quarterfinals in flight A doubles. Lindsay Long and Ashley Donahue were semifinalists in doubles flight B while the duo of Francesca Murasko-Blank and Gwen Dwyer advanced to the finals of the consolation bracket.

 

Cornell won four of the five contested championships. The tournament featured players from Cornell, Army, Lehigh and Rutgers.

 

The Mountain Hawks return to action next weekend at the Eastern Collegiate Tennis Tournament  in  West Point, NY
