Lehigh falls to Duquesne 1-0 in Easton

Easton, PA – Lehigh fell to Duquesne by a score of 1-0 in the Lafayette Soccer Classic on Friday afternoon.
Steve Mellor scored the game’s lone goal in the 82nd minute to down the Mountain Hawks (1-1).
It was the first time in the last three Classic contests that the Mountain Hawks both lost and were held scoreless.
Lehigh was outshot by the Dukes 10-6 on the afternoon, while the Mountain Hawks had eight corner kicks to Duquesne’s two. Senior Sam Bishop sent back four Dukes shots on the day and for Duquesne Zach Varga sent back two Mountain Hawk shots.
Lehigh returns to action on Sunday afternoon as the Mountain Hawks will once again be playing a game in the Classic. However, this time it will be in the cozy confines of the Ulrich Sports Complex. Lehigh welcomes Rider to its home field with the match slated to get underway at 1:00.
