McCahill leads Lehigh at Navy Spring Invite

Annapolis, MD – Lehigh shot a 632 as a team to finish 14th in a crowded 23-team field at the Navy Spring Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. Johnson & Wales University shot a 603 to capture first place in the event, played at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course.
Individually, the Mountain Hawks were led by the play of Patrick McCahill, who shot a 74 on Saturday and a 77 on Sunday to finish in a tie for ninth place overall with a 151. McCahill’s opening round score of 74 was the single best round of any Lehigh player all weekend.
Nam Park, who won last weekend’s George Washington Invitational, had the second best single round of any Mountain Hawk, shooting a 75 on Saturday. Park (75-89-164) struggled in difficult conditions Sunday, and he finished in a tie with teammate John Jaravata (80-84-164). Freshman Alan Borowsky continued to play consistently, shooting a 76 Saturday and a 79 on Sunday. He finished four strokes behind McCahill with a 155, to earn second place recognition among Lehigh golfers.
Binghamton University’s Joe Kunz shot an even-par 71 on Saturday, and was particularly impressive with his 72 on Sunday to win the event with a 143 overall. Kunz’s score bested Towson’s Billy Wengerd by one stroke.
Lehigh resumes spring competition on Friday when the Mountain Hawks take part in the two-day Princeton Invitational.
