Mountain Hawks cruise to fourth straight win

Villanova, PA – The Mountain Hawks continue to make it look easy, dispatching their fourth straight opponent Thursday afternoon with a 6-1 victory at Villanova. Lehigh has taken the last four matches by combined scores of 27-1, and the action was no different as the Mountain Hawks dropped just two sets in running their record to 10-2.
Kristen Nowicki and Rachel Samson each had undefeated days, teaming up to win a doubles set 8-2 over Candice Carlin and Melissa Reed. In singles Nowicki defeated Carlin 6-2, 6-4, while Samson took down Reed 6-0, 6-1. Gwen Dwyer, Lindsay Long, and Starr Foster all had straight set victories as well. Maria Anorga was the only Mountain Hawk on the wrong side of the scoreboard, dropping her match 6-4, 6-2 to Jessica Rybacki.
Anorga teamed up with Long to win their doubles set though, 8-6 over Courtney Flezzani and Erica Walter.
Lehigh gets ready to start Patriot League play on Saturday, as the team travels to American to take on the Eagles. The match is scheduled to begin at 11:00 am.
