Mountain Hawks shutout Rider

Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh (4-2) went a perfect 3-0 in the Sheridan Duals, finishing the day in style with a 42-0 shutout victory over Rider on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks posted the only shutout of the day and first since a 44-0 win over Franklin & Marshall on December 8, 2000.
Freshman Corey Cooperman (133) scored the only pin of the match over Derrick Goduto. Junior heavyweight Joe Sahl won by technical decision to complete the shutout for the Mountain Hawks. Junior Jon Trenge won by major decision, 9-0, at 197 against Jack Pianna. Junior Mario Stuart (125), senior Tristan Boyd (141), freshmen Troy Letters (165) and Travis Frick (184), and junior Brad Dillon (174) won their matches by decision, and picking up victories by way of forfeit were sophomore Tommy Rohn at 149 and freshman Derek Zinck at 157.
In the other 2:00 duals Rutgers University defeated Slippery Rock University, 37-6 and Lock Haven University was victorious over Drexel University, 31-6. Earlier in the day Lehigh defeated Rutgers 41-6 and Drexel 33-7. On the day the Mountain Hawks outscored their opponents 116-13.
Cooperman went a perfect 3-0 on the afternoon, with a pair of falls and a major decision. Trenge, Boyd, Letters, Dillon, and Frick all joined Cooperman at 3-0 on the afternoon.
The Mountain Hawks return to action at the Midlands Tournament on December 28-29.
