Lehigh downs Rutgers at Sheridan Duals

Twelfth ranked Lehigh hosted five teams in the 21st Annual Sheridan Tournament held at Stabler Arena on Saturday. In the first match, Lehigh defeated Rutgers 32-10. The win improved Lehigh’s record to 2-1 while Rutgers dropped to 0-2. The match up featured the second (Lehigh) and third (Rutgers) ranked teams in the EIWA.
Lehigh had impressive efforts from all its wrestlers. The Mountain Hawks took six bouts before Rutgers was able to record a win.
Lehigh had two wrestlers earn pins over the Scarlet Knights. In the 141 lb weight class freshman Tommy Rohn started things for the Brown and White recording a pin over Rutgers’ Ken Rodriguez in 4:31 to put Lehigh up 9-0. Freshman Mike Pirozolla continued where his teammate left off, earning a pin over Rutgers Greg Austin in 6:09 in the 149 lb weight class. Pirozolla is now 8-1 on the season. All-American sophomore Mario Stuart earned a 21-6 major decision over the Scarlet Knights Andrew Urhlass.
Wrestling action continues at 12:00 with Lehigh facing off against Ohio University, before taking on seventh ranked Ohio State at 2:00.
