Bethlehem, PA – First-place Lehigh defeated Navy by a score of 68-57 at Stabler Arena to improve its record to .500 on the season at 10-10, and a very impressive 7-1 in the Patriot League. Navy drops to 13-8 overall, 3-5 in the league. Senior forward Anne Tierney once again led the Brown and White, as she finished with 19 points and 13 rebounds on the afternoon.
The first half was a tightly contested battle with both teams going back and forth at each other, with the score eventually being tied at 29 after one half. Junior Carli Toliver led the Mountain Hawks with nine points, including a perfect six for six from the charity stripe. She received help from Tierney with six points and eight rebounds and sophomore forward Jessica DePalo, who scored Lehigh’s first five points of the game.
In the second half, the Mountain Hawks would never let Navy get any closer than six points. Down the stretch, it was sound defense, good decision-making, and a solid performance at the foul line that secured the victory for the Mountain Hawks. As a team, Lehigh shot 82.4% for the game from the foul line, led by Toliver, who finished a perfect ten for ten at the line, and had 13 points in the game.
Navy was led on the afternoon by junior Courtney Davidson, who finished with 24 points and five rebounds.
