Women’s swimming and diving falls to West Chester
WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Lehigh women’s swimming and diving team had its hands full with a tough West Chester squad and despite a spirited performance, the Mountain Hawks lost their first meet of the season 174-69.
Freshmen Alissa Leung was responsible for both of Lehigh’s event wins as she placed first in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:11.43 and the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:05.35.
Leung was also part of the meet-opening 400 yard medley relay team that placed second as she along with freshman Kimberly Weyand, sophomore Meredith Bayer and freshman Taylor Wise finished with a time of 4:04.20.
The Mountain Hawks also took second in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:42.07 with a team of senior Priscilla Barletta, freshman Madeleine Smith, junior Katie Haycraft and sophomore Stephanie Yaszemski.
Sophomore Giovanna Patafio had a pair of third-place finishes for the Mountain Hawks as she took third in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:52.52 and the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:16.57.
Lehigh returns to the pool to host Colgate on Saturday, October 29 at 1 p.m.
