Lehigh battles blustery conditions in Philly

PHILADELPHIA – The Lehigh rowing team wrapped up action at the 2010 Dad Vail Regatta on Saturday afternoon. Facing near-impossible conditions due to extremely high winds, the women’s varsity lightweight eight crew placed fourth in its final with a time of 7:31.913, which was just one second off of second place finisher Georgia Tech and less than a second behind third place Buffalo.
On Friday, the men’s varsity 4 crossed in a time of 6:57.741 in its opening heat which placed the Brown and White in third place ahead of Northwestern and John Carroll. The men’s pair placed fourth in its opening race with a time of 7:41.129, while the varsity 8 finished its opening race in 6:13.783 and moved onto to the repechage. Lehigh crossed in 6:25.949 in its next race which placed the Mountain Hawks in fourth place.
The women’s freshmen four placed third in its opening heat with a time of 8:18.369 and the varsity pair crossed in 9:08.123 in its lone race of the day.
