RALEIGH, N.C. – Too many first half turnovers and a talented North Carolina State team proved to be too much for the Lehigh as the Mountain Hawks (4-7) fell to the Wolfpack 66-34 at Reynolds Coliseum. Senior Adrienne Blount was 5-for-9 from the field as she led the Mountain Hawks with 11 points. Blount also had a game-high eight rebounds.
NC State (10-2) set the tone early in the game, with Shayla Fields drilling a three-pointer on the first shot of the game. The Wolfpack would go on an eight-point scoring run to bring the score 13-4 with 12:46 left in the first half. Lehigh cut into the deficit off two jumpers by Blount to bring the score to 13-8. NC State would further increase its lead as the Wolfpack led 23-9 with 4:21 remaining. The Mountain Hawks would get seven more points before the end of the half as they went into halftime trailing NC State 27-16. Lehigh turned the ball over 14 times in the first half, allowing the Wolfpack to score ten of its 27 points off turnovers.
Lehigh was only able to shoot 29.2 percent from the field (7-for-24) in the second half as NC State got 39 points from 11 different players and shot 51.5 percent from the field (17-for-33).
Fields and Dickens led NC State with 12 and ten points, respectively.
Lehigh returns to action next Friday when the Mountain Hawks host the Christmas City Classic.
