Tigers hand Lehigh second loss of the season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After trailing by five points at halftime, Lehigh tallied 26 second half points, but it would not be enough as the visiting Princeton Tigers defeated the Mountain Hawks 56-49 on Friday night at Stabler Arena. Cold shooting from three-point range and while at the line plagued Lehigh as the Mountain Hawks were only 3-for-22 when shooting treys and 4-for-13 from the line. Lehigh now falls to 2-2 on the season while Princeton improves to 2-2.
The Mountain Hawks found themselves trailing multiple times throughout the game as Princeton went on several scoring runs, including an eight-point spurt at the beginning of the second half. Lehigh would eventually cut into the deficit as the Mountain Hawks only trailed by three when freshman Alex Ross nailed one of her two three-pointers.
Senior Adrienne Blount led the way for the Mountain Hawks as she netted a season-high 18 points for the second time this season, going 8-for-13 from the field. In the first half, Blount had a team-high nine points as she was 4-for-5. The Mahopac, N.Y. native also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. It was the second time this season that Blount has recorded 18 points and seven rebounds against an Ivy League opponent. She posted the same numbers against Penn on November 16.
Behind the hot field goal shooting of Meagan Cowher and Casey Lockwood, the Tigers shot 42.4 percent. Cowher recorded the game’s only double-double as she notched 20 points (9-for-18) and pulled down 14 rebounds. Meanwhile, Lockwood was 7-for-13, scoring 15 points.
