Lehigh places seventh in 15-team Big Five Invite

FLOURTOWN, Pa. – Lehigh senior Shane Gilroy shot a 148 over two rounds (71, 77) and finished in a tie for 12th place at the Big Five Invitational at Wissahickon Course at Philadelphia Cricket Club.  The Mountain Hawks finished seventh as a team with a score of 597 (299, 298), while Temple won the team championship with a score of 587 (295, 292).  Rounding out the top five in the team standings were Seton Hall (290, 298 = 588), William & Mary (300, 289 = 589), Villanova (292, 301 = 593) and Florida Gulf Coast (298, 297 = 595). 

Also competing for Lehigh in Flourtown were Steve Suarez who shot a 152 over the course of the weekend and finished in a tie with teammate Duncan Zeiders in 29th place.  Suarez bounced back from a tough Saturday to shoot one of the lowest scores of Sunday’s action with a 70, while Zeiders shot a 79 and Saturday and also improved on the second day, with a 73.  Senior Will Robinson tied for 34th place after shooting a 153 (75, 78) and freshman Doug Marcincin finished in a tie for 56th following his two day total of 158 (74, 84).

Lehigh is back in action on on October 25 when the Mountain Hawks host the Lehigh Invitational at Saucon Vally Country Club.
