Delaware hands Lehigh third straight loss, 7-0

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh kicked off a string of three home matches in four days with a 7-0 loss to Delaware Thursday at the Lewis Tennis Center. The visiting Fightin’ Blue Hens swept all three doubles matches and all six singles matches to hand Lehigh its third straight setback, as the Mountain Hawks fall to 4-6 on the season.

                                                                                                              

Delaware rolled to an early lead by winning all three doubles matches, then swept the singles matches winning all six in straight sets. Juniors Ruthie Furman and Victoria Vityuk each won six games during the course of the match, but fell by identical 6-3, 6-3 scores at third and fourth singles respectively.

 

The Mountain Hawks will return to the court on Saturday when they welcome the Purple Eagles of Niagara to the Lewis Tennis Center. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
