The “Essence” of Sport

The intramural program at Lehigh University has always been a competitive program, built on sportsmanship, integrity and a high participation rate. The goal is to acquire trophy points through the year by competing in each sport. Those points accumulate which eventually proclaims the title "ALL UNIVERSITY CHAMPION" in each of the 4 Divisions.
Even though the ultimate winner tends to be a strong group, tending to make playoffs with advancement in the bracket, there was a need to reward those that contribute to our program as well, but not always coming out as a "winner". The Essence of Sport award was established will be awarded annually to those living units who personify the essence of sport. Win or lose, these teams are the most responsible, reliable and active participants throughout the Lehigh Intramural Community. All four affiliations Upperclass Greek, Upperclass Independent, Women and Freshmen will have their names engraved on the IM Affiliation of the Year plaques which will display in Campus Athletics Wall of Recognition outside the main doors of the Welch Fitness Center in Taylor Gym.
