Hamlin earns Academic All-District At-Large honors
Lehigh wrestling junior Robert Hamlin has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District II At-Large team, it was announced Friday. A two-time EIWA Champion and All-American on the mats, Hamlin is also one of the strongest Mountain Hawks academically, as he becomes Lehigh’s first wrestling Academic All-District selection since Brad Dillon in 2004.

Mountain Hawks' season ends with 9-2 loss to Oregon State
The Lehigh softball team saw its 2012 season come to an end Saturday with a 9-2 loss to Oregon State at the OU Softball Complex. Senior Jen Colquhoun went 2-for-3 in her final game in the Brown and White, but the Beavers’ Elizabeth Santana went 2-for-2 with five RBI as Oregon State raced to an early 6-0 lead before holding off a fourth-inning Mountain Hawk rally.

No. 4 Oklahoma proves too strong for Lehigh in regional opener
The Oklahoma Sooners proved why they are one of the nation’s top teams as the fourth-seeded Sooners used a 13-run second inning to defeat Lehigh 19-3 in five innings Friday night in both teams’ opening game in the Norman Regional. Junior Liz Lucas belted a three-run home run to account for Lehigh’s runs as the Mountain Hawks fall to 40-18 on the season.

Pierce earns bid to NCAA First Round
Lehigh track and field senior Katherine Pierce will participate in the 2012 NCAA East Regional which will be held in Jacksonville, Fla. on the campus of the University of North Florida on May 24-26. Pierce will be racing in the 10,000-meter run on Thursday at 9:40 p.m. Pierce - the school record order in the 10,000m run - qualifies for her first NCAA Regional.

Kosgei earns bid to NCAA First Round for second straight year
Lehigh track and field senior Evans Kogei will participate in the 2012 NCAA East Regional which will be held in Jacksonville, Fla. on the campus of the University of North Florida on May 24-26. Kosgei will compete in the 3000-meter steeplechase Friday at 8:50 p.m. Kosgei is the school record holder in the event and competed in the same 3000m steeplechase in last year's NCAA Regional.

Cassese to serve as guest studio analyst on ESPN this weekend
Lehigh head coach Kevin Cassese will serve as a guest studio analyst on ESPN2 and ESPNU this weekend as the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship Presented by Enterprise Rent-A-Car action continues. The 2012 Patriot League Coach of the Year will join host Anish Shroff and analyst Mark Dixon all weekend from ESPNU’s studio in Charlotte, N.C. Quarterfinal games are set for 12 and 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Lehigh makes final preparations for Friday showdown vs. No. 4 Oklahoma
The Lehigh softball team made its final preparations for its upcoming NCAA Regional appearance with a workout on a hot, sunny Thursday afternoon at the OU Softball Complex. The Mountain Hawks (40-17) will be challenged right off the bat by the national No. 4 seed Oklahoma Friday at 7:30 p.m. (CST).

Women’s Ultimate Seeks First National Championship!
The Women’s Ultimate Frisbee Team have begun an adventure to the state of Wisconsin, but not to toss the disc on Lambeau Field, eat some cheese or purchase a cheese head for some to wear to graduation. Instead, the ladies and their coach “Pete” will be driving from Bethlehem to Appleton, a fabulous small town, population 77,000, nestled in northeastern Wisconsin near Lake Michigan and at the north end of large Lake Winnebago, home of the unique Winnebago lake fly.

Mountain Hawks land three on NFCA All-Region teams
As the Lehigh softball team readies to make its second straight NCAA Regional appearance this weekend, three Mountain Hawks were named to the NFCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region teams announced Thursday. Senior Julie Fernandez and junior Liz Lucas were named to the first team, while senior Jen Colquhoun was named to the second team.

Lao-Gosneys make movie debut in Crooked Arrows premiering Friday
Lehigh midfielders Cameron and Roman Lao-Gosney played key roles in the lacrosse movie Crooked Arrows, which opens in select theatres on Friday (May 18). The twins were both part of the Coventry team, the prep school which the Crooked Arrows play. Roman wears #21 and Cameron #25; they appear in numerous scenes, with Roman having one speaking part as well.

Poillon earns another National Rookie of the Week honor
Lehigh freshman goalie Matt Poillon has garnered another award after a stellar 16-save performance in Sunday’s NCAA First Round Game. The Mount Sinai, N.Y. native earned his second Cascade Rookie of the Week honor, as announced by Inside Lacrosse on Wednesday. He tied a career high in saves, including six in the third quarter, to help the Mountain Hawks propel ahead of Maryland.

Lehigh heads to Oklahoma for seventh NCAA appearance in nine years
For the seventh time in nine seasons, Lehigh has earned the Patriot League’s automatic berth into the NCAA Regional Tournament. The Mountain Hawks head to Norman, Oklahoma to open regional play against the No. 4 national seed Oklahoma Sooners, marking the sixth time in eight NCAA appearances that the Mountain Hawks will open with a Big XII opponent. Lehigh posted three shutout wins to claim the league tournament title last weekend, claiming its second straight championship and 12th overall.

Cassese and Nadelen to coach South Team at USILA North-South Game
Lehigh head coach Kevin Cassese will team up with Towson’s Shawn Nadelen as co-head coaches for the South Team at the annual North-South Senior All-Star Game next Friday (May 25) at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass. The nation’s top seniors will face off at Harvard Stadium the day before Championship Weekend kicks off at nearby Gillette Stadium in Foxboro.

Lehigh wraps up successful spring campaign
The Lehigh field hockey team recently wrapped up a strong spring season, continuing hard at work for the 2012 campaign. The Mountain Hawks hosted two tournaments and their annual Alumni Game while also traveling to Lafayette. With significant talent and experience returning, Lehigh looks to continue building off last season’s third-place finish and Patriot League Tournament berth.

Steelhawks Sign Top Quarterback and Host “Salute to Heroes” Night
The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks are excited to announce the signing of a new quarterback, Chris Malleo to the flock. Malleo was the starting quarterback of a Reading Express team last year that went 8-6 and was the Atlantic Division Champions. Mountain Hawks announce 2012 team awards
The Lehigh women’s lacrosse team recently announced its 2012 awards following a strong campaign highlighted by a midseason stretch when it won five-of-seven games. Senior Leigh Ann Torcivia was named Athlete of the Year while juniors Julie McBrien and MaryLeah DiNisco earned Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the Coaches Award, respectively.

Mountain Hawks to open NCAA regionals at No. 4 Oklahoma
After capturing its second straight Patriot League title and seventh in the last nine years, the Lehigh softball team learned its NCAA Regional fate on Sunday. The Mountain Hawks are headed to Norman, Okla. to face the No. 4 national seed Oklahoma Sooners Friday at 7:30 p.m. (CT) at the OU Softball Complex. Oregon State and Tulsa are the two other teams in the region.

Forrest earns All-East honors at IC4A Championships
Lehigh men’s track and field senior Kyle Forrest earned All-East honors for the at the IC4A Championships over the weekend. Forrest placed fourth in the decathlon with 6,477 points to earn five points for the Mountain Hawks, which placed tied for 41st overall. Forrest finished first in the 1500m run (4:20.08) and the 400m run (50.10) and was second in the high jump (1.89m).
