Softball League


Summer Softball League

General Information

  • Roster/League Fee $75 per team
  • Games normally run from the end of May through July.
  • Games are played Mon-Thurs. with a variable 2 day per week playing schedule
  • All games are played at Sayre Field located off of Mountain Drive as you go toward the Mountain Top Campus.
  • Gates open at 4:30 PM and close immediately at the end of the last game.

Eligibility 

  • Only full time faculty/ staff, graduate students, and undergraduates are eligible to participate.
  • Rosters:  A team filed roster can only have 18 players.  At championship time, only 18 players will get awards.
  • Ten people constitute a team, but you may start with a team minimum of eight players. (Any time a team drops below 8 players that team will automatically forfeit)
  • A player must play at least 50% of the games and participate at least 50% of the time within these games in order to qualify to play in the playoffs.
  • Players will be required to show a valid LU ID at the start of each game (it will be compared to the roster) and a tally will be kept of all players.  Players cannot show and leave to count as participation.  NO ID = NO PARTICIPATION

Equipment and Property

  • All teams are required to return all Lehigh recreational equipment to the storage area after their game. Failure to return any equipment will result in teams being charged and/or removed from league play.
  • Participants are permitted to wear soft-soled rubber cleated shoes. All other types of cleats are not permitted.
  • Alcoholic beverage consumption is not permitted at anytime.  Any team associated with alcohol consumption on the premises will forfeit their opportunity for further league play.
  • Sayre Feilds shall be cleared immediately following all games.

Schedule

  • Games are 7 innings of regular play, or can end after 5 innings or more if a team is ahead by 10 runs.
  • Home team will be delineated on the schedule.
  • On days of bad weather, the supervisor will call or email you for cancellation information.
  • Should you need to reschedule a game, it must be played during the regular season and be reported to a supervisor. The only reschedules that will be done by the supervisor will be rain cancellations or in emergency situations.
  • Two forfeits will eliminate that team from further league play.
  • There are no specific rules if you have a co-ed team.  It’s your discretion on who plays.
  • During the playoffs the team with the best regular season record will be the "home team."
  • During the playoffs, an effort will be made to have the games monitored by an unbiased supervisor to provide judgment on challenged calls.
