Lane Challenge Climbing Wall
This is the newest addition to the Fitness Center and Racquet Sports Complex. Located on the upper level of the Welch Fitness Center adjacent to the racquetball and squash courts, this venue offers a fun, challenging activity for students, faculty and staff. The climbing section is 20 linear feet long and 21 feet tall. The bouldering section is 27 feet long with a 90 degree turn and is 12 feet high. The wall is a West Coast System designed and installed by Nicros, Inc.

Summer Operating Hours
The Climbing Wall is open for recreational bouldering during summer Fitness Center hours (TBD).
Programs
• Bonus Card: $10 for 10 climbs
• Semester Membership: $25 includes rentals
• Daily Rentals: $1 per climbing session. Includes: Harness, Shoes, Chalk
Climbing Area Rules
BE ALERT – SUPPORT SAFE CLIMBING CONDITIONS
• Absolutely no uncertified climbers or belayers
• Recklessness, unsafe behavior or improper equipment use are prohibited
• Loose chalk is prohibited
• Holds may only be moved or adjusted by certified route setters ONLY.
Roped Climbing Rules
• Climber must tie in with a retraced figure eight knot and a backup knot
• Climbing path should be consistent with anchor position to limit swing if the climber falls
• Sandbag anchors required to balance out weight difference if the belayer is lighter then the climber
• Climber must check belay setup and belayer check climber setup
• Roped climbing is prohibited during non-staffed hours
• Climbers may use their own harness and shoes, all other equipment will be provided by LUCW
Bouldering Rules
• Bouldering is a dangerous activity, and is conducted at your own risk
• Boulderers should use a spotter when attempting difficult moves
• No bouldering is permitted with hands above 12 feet (red line on wall)
• Boulderers must yield to roped climbers
• Need a crash pad for bouldering
