Renovating "The Snake Pit"

Renovations to historic Grace Hall are underway in anticipation for a grand reopening in the late fall of 2003. The venerable facility, which is home to the nationally ranked wrestling program, championship women’s volleyball team, and the popular intramural and club sports program, is a place where champions hone their talents and alumni cheer them on. Plans for the refurbished Grace Hall include the creation of an expanded lobby area with glass walls, a VIP skybox area, a modern radio and television broadcast area, and 2,200 spectator seats that are as close to the action as the current venue. Other plans call for larger restroom facilities and new locker rooms for the volleyball team and visiting squads. Retractable seats will allow the playing surface to be transformed into three full-sized multi-purpose courts. The facility will also serve as an alternate practice site for the men’s and women’s basketball programs. The new venue will carry the name Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall.
