Lehigh University Athletics
Mission Statement
The mission of the Lehigh University Athletics Department is to advance learning, develop leadership skills, and foster personal growth through comprehensive athletics programming.
The importance of alumni involvement in our mission
In the increasingly competitive field of intercollegiate athletics, alumni involvement provides the competitive edge. There are so many ways in which Lehigh alumni can help us accomplish our mission. Here is a list of just a few:
- Identification of athletics prospects
- Attendance at athletics contests
- Wear Lehigh athletics apparel
- Support our business ventures (on-line merchandise store, internet broadcasting, photo store, camps & clinics, golf facility, and more!)
- Mentor our student-athletes in their chosen career fields
- Provide internships & job opportunities
- Be an active member of your sport-specific Partnership
- Contribute financially to enhance our operation
The Lehigh Athletics Partnership
To enable our former student-athletes to remain connected and to be a positive factor in their sport at Lehigh, the Lehigh Athletics Partnership was formed. We consciously chose this name because we are all partners in the development of the young men and women who wear the Brown & White today.
The Athletics Partnership Mission Statement
The mission of the Lehigh Athletics Partnership is to provide a framework and support system that will enable our former student-athletes to remain connected to their Lehigh sports program, and all who participated in it, in a manner that’s fun and impactful for the sport they played.
The birth of sport-specific Partnerships
Because our former student-athletes identify so specifically and completely with the sport(s) they played at Lehigh and because they can have the greatest impact within their sport, we have decided to launch sport-specific Partnerships for each of our varsity sports.
These sport-specific Partnerships operate very much like the regional alumni clubs that form the Lehigh Alumni Association. They are run by the alumni of those sports with support from the Lehigh Athletics Partnership office. Over the past two years, we have launched Partnerships in 10 sports. In the 2010-2011 academic year, we hope to launch 9 more. Please see the roll-out schedule below:

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
Anndrea Yetter graduated from Lehigh in 2008 after playing defense for the Mountain Hawks women's soccer team. Yetter’s team role helped provide defensive support. Yetter’s post-graduation life path differs from many recent college graduates. Shortly after graduating, Yetter began preparing for a journey that she says would later change her life. Yetter decided to live in South Africa for nine months as a member of an organization called Grassroots Soccer.
Former Lehigh student-athlete, Sekou Yansane '09, was named a winner of the 2009 Academic Momentum Award through the National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS) in its partnership with Scholar Baller. Yansane was one of three winners from the Mid-Atlantic region which produced 17 nominees from 11 different universities. The criteria for the award include being either a sophomore, junior or senior who has shown improvement in their classroom performance.
